Eventually, though, Shigematsu came around and wrote Rising Son, a series of vignettes performed solo, articulating the condition of the "banana"--the Asian raised as a Canadian.
Shigematsu was left with conflicting feelings about the television medium.
Seeking to rekindle that heat, Shigematsu has recently reunited with the original director of Rising Son, Michel Choquette, in order to lay the groundwork for a revamped take on the play.

From the "news you might actually care about" column: I was listening to CBC radio on my lunch (as I'm wont to do), specifically The Roundup, which has only gotten better since being taken over by Tetsuro Shigematsu.
His recommendations were fairly sound, and at one point he even expressed disdain for games based on recent historical conflicts.
Tetsuro and he plugged his website several times over the course of the interview and, upon returning from lunch, I went straight for the internet and looked it up.

Old fart that I now apparently am, I couldn't help but be offended the other day as I listened to the callow Tetsuro Shigematsu on CBC Radio's The Roundup, along with his ever-chuckling sidekick, Anna Bonokoski.
They provided it with no context or date; they had clearly not bothered to research it to explain its provenance to any other teeny-boppers who might be listening.
After it aired, Shigematsu and Bonokoski commented on it with the requisite blockheaded good cheer of the youthful CBC Radio host.
