BBC - Gloucestershire - About Gloucestershire - Should school uniform be abolished?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-12)
Many schools that have been around for a period of time will have a uniform in their school’s particular colours with a logo of the school on the front.
However if we were to abolish school uniform then because of the diversity of dress sense we see in society today there is almost certainly a greater risk that pupils would get picked on by members of their own school, because people disagree on what clothes are deemed ‘cool’.
And of course if school pupils are truanting then they are much easier to spot in school uniform and are easily recognisable to members of the public as to which school they go to.
