 Passenger Opinions about Air Asia
Overall, I didn't regret to fly with air Asia not only because of their low price (in fact, I have booked the ticket in advance of 8 months and their anniversary campaign was being held so we got several free tickets!), but that the price meets the service.
Air Asia could really work on their in-flight menu, as it offers snacky foods, but nothing to fill you.
Air Asia (AK314) from Kuala Lumpur to Penang on 05/07, scheduled to depart at 1130 and arrive at 1220, by when I check in at around 0800.

I understand that Air Asia is focusing mainly on local travellers but it also loses unearned revenues from Europeans (as I wanted to buy some snack and I could not do that as I had only USD with me).
Thai Air Asia's leg room seemed less restrictive than Air Asia's, and their menu was also a little different.
Thai Air Asia’s planes seem to be in a better condition than those used by Air Asia in Malaysia.

Last week, Nok Air, One-Two-Go and Thai Air Asia jointly announced they were surcharging fares by 200 baht on domestic routes and 400 baht on international routes effective May 1.
I quoted both prices (the Thai Air price and the best price that I had previously been able to get) after including taxes and surcharges, because this seems to me to be a more relevant figure, i.e.
Also, while the monetary saving is only THB 1,070 (still enough for a pretty good night out), the Thai Air flight is a direct flight as opposed to having to hang around for hours in a third country airport.

Thai seems to be the only airline with regular schedules that they try to keep to.
Obviously Thai Airways has a better schedule but Nok is not bad.Thai Air Asia only has a few flights per day so difficult to find convenience with them.I also hate their free seating policy,as do not like the mad scramble to board and get a seat..............
I flew silk air two weeks ago to Singapore and it was very cool, with directional airvents (also none of these on Thai Airways).

Thai Day has a good round-up of the Thai LCC market at the moment, with the surprising fact that Nok Air is the best performing of the Thai LCCs.
Both PB Air and One-Two-Go by Orient Thai are complaining that Nok Air (which is 39% owned by government-controlled THAI) is receiving preferential treatment as THAI ditches its loss-making domestic routes.
Nok Air is effectively subsidised by THAI, leasing its aircraft from THAI at book value + 1%, while its domestic rivals have to lease at market rates.
