Thailand and China are targeting a more than two-fold increase in bilateral trade to around 30 billion dollars by 2010, aided by tariff cuts.
Thailand's Board of Investment (BOI) Secretary General Somphong Wanapha told a press briefing in Bangkok on 19 July 2004, following a high level mission to Beijing, that the surge in trade would be driven by cheaper agricultural goods as a result of tariff cuts agreed by the two sides under a partial free trade agreement.
The critical ingredients in attracting foreign investment are Thailand's location, its perceived stability and pro-business approach and the availability of low-cost but skilled labor.

There doesn‘t seem to be in general any investment interest in agro-business in Thailand and it would seem as regional economies diversify toward and must gravitate toward their natural comparative advantages that should be a place where investment is funneled particularly when you talk about this yawning gap in wealth disparity in the agricultural sector.

BANGKOK, Thailand, June 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Board of Investment (BOI), announced the following new measures to facilitate and increase investment in industries throughout Thailand: - New activities in the software and film industries are eligible for promotion.
Projects with total investment of over THB 10 million (excluding cost of land and working capital) must obtain a standard certificate from the Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA) or obtain Capability Maturity Model (CMM) certification or other equivalent certification approved by SIPA.
Projects located in industrial estates in Investment Zones 2 and 3 (including Rayong Province), will be granted tax and duty privileges specified by Board of Investment Announcement 1/2536 for an additional 5-year period.

Thailand's Board of Investment Monday approved granting of tax privileges for 15 projects with a combined value of THB40.58 billion.
The Board has granted approval for a THB4.48 billion project by National Petrochemical PCL to produce 100,000 tpa of low-density polyethylene and will be completed in 2007.
The Board of Investment also approved a THB9.74 billion project for building a gas separation plant by PTT PCL.
