There is probably no area within the London Borough of Bexley that generates more comment and discussion than Thamesmead, a huge development of high- and low-rise blocks with interconnecting walkways that covers 130 acres of former marshland in the north of the borough near the River Thames.
Uniquely, although Thamesmead was a ‘new town’ and built on the scale of the early post-war towns, it was a new town built within a capital city.
Thamesmead was developed and managed by the Greater London Council up until the abolition of the GLC in 1986.

As far as we could establish, this is the only boozer in the entirety of Zhilmass SE28, this pish-stinking Londonish Poskot and, like anything that seeks to be all things to all people (or, at any rate, all things to all inhabitants of an isolated dystopia), the Cutty Sark disappoints.
Its defining characteristics are an abundance of bossy notices (meaning that at least a spot of the old ultraviolence is out of the question), a tendency towards excessive England flag-waving, and too many tasteless whimsies of a vaguely nautical theme.
All in all this is probably the worst, or at least the most uninteresting, waterside pub in London.

As editor of the Thamesmead Gazette, I would just like to add that it was not only a wonderful movie, but nice to see the people in our part of London portrayed in a hopeful, rather than downtrodden, light.
For too long this part of town has been portrayed as a hell-hole (for those who do not know, Stanley Kubrick's 'A Clockwork Orange' was filmed in Thamesmead and roughtly in the same area too.
Thamesmead has never been able to shake that image off, which has caused problems.

Well, surprisingly, some parts of inner London, such as the 'square mile' of the City of London, and areas around Shoreditch/Liverpool Street can be extremely quiet at the weekends, when all the workers are at home.
I used to live in a flat near Liverpool Street, and there was filming being done at the weekends quite often.
