Thassos, "The Green Island", is situated in the gulf of Kavala, in the northern part of the Aegean Sea and its the closest one to the mainland of Greece (8 km).
Europe's prince Thassos started searching for her everywhere and during one of his trips he discovered this island and settled down here and the island was named after him.
The first Greek colonists of Thassos were the Parians, who came in 700 BC with their leader Telesicles, after they received an oracle from the temple of Apollo in Delphi.

Thasos or Thassos (Greek: Θάσος, Turkish: Taşöz) is an island in the northern Aegean Sea, close to the coast of Thrace and the plain of the river Nestos (during the Ottoman times Kara-Su).
The island was colonized at an early date by Phoenicians, attracted probably by its gold mines; they founded a temple of Heracles, which still existed in the time of Herodotus.

Transportation by air: Thassos does not have its own airport and it is served by the airport MEGAS ALEXANDROS, which by favourable coincidence is located at the shore across the island and near the port of Keramoti, in the plain of Chrysoupoli.

I have never been in Thassos, but I hope that together with my spouse and daughter would have wonderful vacations.
Thassos is a typical Greek island, if you want to compare to Kerkira, it is also very green (unfortunately many trees were lost in the big fires in the 80's), but there are still lots of olive trees and pine trees.
Pefkari is a little summer spot with a good beach (sand with some stone slabs in the water), taverns, bars and watersports.
