The Grudge (2004)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-10)
Before filming, the cast and crew went through a ceremony where they were blessed so nothing bad could happen to them for filming.
I understand that the film makers wanted to make sure that this film worked and made them money, so they repeated what worked, even casting the same Japanese actors for the kid and other roles; but it would have been nice if they had done more that was new beyond the opening sequence.
For me it was a 6 out of 10, for fresh eyes probably higher.

Reason Magazine - Confessions of a Welfare Queen
That’s government logic: Since we always mindlessly use taxpayer money to bail out every idiot who takes an expensive risk, let’s get some money up front by selling them insurance first.
Subsidized insurance goes to movie stars in Malibu, to rich people in Kennebunkport (where the Bush family has its vacation compound), to rich people in Hyannis (where the Kennedy family has its), and to all sorts of people like me who ought to be paying our own way.
But despite their surface support for free markets, most of them operate in a market that’s very expensive for all of us, receiving $200 billion in direct handouts this decade, plus another $200 billion in artificial price supports (which force us all to pay more for food).

But looking at this specific example, where the input parameters and table are hardcoded, I was wondering whether the construct underneath would not solve the problem as well.
On the other hand, a query like: select * from emp where empno = 5555; that would be deemed "safe", that is, regardless of the literal value used, the query plan will be the same (index unique scan on the empno index).
i gave a sample query like this select * from emp where (null is null or empno = 1) then i saw full table scan on emp now when i modify the query: select * from emp where (1 is null or empno = 1) then i saw the index is being used on that..

Indoors Only: That's Where Your Cat Should Be
That's Where Your Cat Should Be Telling a cat owner that his or her cat should stay indoors will often elicit indignant responses such as, "It's only natural for a cat to go out," or "How could I deprive him of so much pleasure?" or "Cats can take care of themselves."
Outside threats to cats are numerous and take their toll on cat's lives.
Although it takes patience and work, an outdoor cat can be turned into a perfectly content indoor pet.

RGE - So, is the Bush Administration for bashing China or against it?
The lurch toward a bilateral shouting match seems to me to be poorly thought out; i think they should have put in place a more multilateral strategy for increasing pressure on China long ago (multilateral approaches take longer to bear fruit) in anticipation of the current congressional firestorm.
Taking into account the fraction of Japan's exports that are high-value-added parts passing through China for assembly on their way to us, their net actual trade surplus is much higher -- perhaps the reason why the current account surplus exceeds the export-import difference by $64 billion.
Which says to me that in the event of a broad fall of the dollar, the potential total valuation losses to the economies of the two countries is similar, the qualitative difference being that in the Japanese case, the private sector will immediatly share the government's pain.

I suspect the funniest line of the day, a half-puzzled, half-disgusted "I can't believe she ate that fly" probably won't be used, 'cos it was in a take that didn't work.
Occasionally the answer to "why is it worded like that?" was because "that's the way the network wants it" but most of the time we could find the happy medium.
I think Maddy's favourite was How to Make a Pencil jump, although once she had discovered the power of jumping pencils, I had to persuade her not to shoot pencils at people, which I did by uttering the time-worn phrase "you could put someone's eye out", and felt most grown-up.
