Thatcherism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Margaret Thatcher labelled supporters of her beliefs (or Thatcherites) as 'drys', as opposed to the 'wets' (often One Nation conservatives) who opposed her policies.
Following the recession of the early 1980s, the finance sector of Britain's economy began to revive, though it faced a second recession in the late 1980s.
In 2001 Peter Mandelson, a member of parliament belonging to the British Labour Party closely associated with Tony Blair, famously declared that "we are all Thatcherites now".

Margaret Thatcher - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Although she was able to attend the funeral of former US President Ronald Reagan in June 2004, her eulogy for him was pre-taped to prevent undue stress.
She remains involved with various Thatcherite groups, including being president of the Conservative Way Forward group, which held a dinner at the Savoy Hotel in honour of the 25th Anniversary of her election.
Critics of this view believe that the economic problems of the 1970s were exaggerated, and were caused largely by factors outside any UK government's control, such as high oil prices caused by the oil crisis which led to high inflation which damaged the economies of nearly all major industrial countries.
