DAVID OLDS, general merchant, was born in Elmore, Washington County, Vt., in 1824, and reared on a farm; at sixteen years of age he went to Lowell, Mass., and was employed in a cloth factory for a few years, after which he was employed and engaged in mercantile business in various States for seventeen years.

In February 2005, PETA was alerted to a Thayer County property reportedly belonging to Wayne and Howard Pohlmann, where, according to news sources, as many as 32 cows had been found malnourished and dead two months prior.
If officials' findings confirm that animals are once again suffering from a lack of adequate care in the custody of the Pohlmanns, charges should be filed, and all animals in their custody should be immediately seized.
Please also urge the county attorney to ask for a prohibition on owning animals as part of sentencing if the Pohlmanns are convicted.

However, the unbelievably rapid transformation from a high-based severe-warned storm to a tornadic supercell with very low-hanging and rapidly-rotating wallcloud that the storm near Belvidere experienced was the highlight of the trip.
Granted, the long-track, large tornado in Thayer and Jefferson county was quite a sight to see.
For that matter, so was the incredible amount of dust and dirt that was kicked up by this storm, both by the RFD winds and the inflow (which was VERY strong) into the mesocyclone.
