Kreskin, in his typically ingratiating and self-promoting manner, began the TV show by mentioning that Johnny Carson's "Carnac is a satire of me" (but not a word about his own routine being modeled after that of the 1940s and early '50s magician "The Great Dunninger").
Kreskin, of course, correctly "divined" the message, but NCAS members later recovered the scraps while Kreskin was backstage, compared the handwriting on the message to Kreskin's own, and published their findings (with photos) in their Winter 1990-91 Skeptical Eye.
Kreskin lined up the five items across the desktop, and after having Fountain momentarily close her eyes as he passed his hand in front of her face (adding an element of 'mysticism' to the proceedings), he asked her to "touch one of the items" (she picked up the ring).

George Joseph Kresge Jr, better known as The Amazing Kreskin, (born January 12, 1935 in Montclair, New Jersey) is a mentalist who became popular on North American television in the 1970s.
One of his best known tricks is finding his cheque for a performance, which he instructs his hosts to hide before each show; he has only failed to find the check nine times.
From 1971 to 1975, his television series The Amazing World of Kreskin was broadcast throughout Canada on CTV and distributed in syndication in the United States.

I grew up watching The Amazing Kreskin on The Tonight Show and The Mike Douglas Show, and during his prime his mentalist act was without a doubt one of the best, though I always grew weary when he tried to imply, as he does here, that it's a "legitimate phenomena" and "for real".
There's Kreskin's Amazing Pendulum, a silver replica of the one used to answer questions allegedly under its own power, as well as an insert with the chart used to track the mysterious movements of the aforementioned pendulum.
As a fan of magic and mentalism, as well as being a longtime admirer of The Amazing Kreskin, I was troubled by how his act on this disc just seemed so awkward and sloppy, and not a true reflection of the way I remember seeing him at what I guess was his peak.
