The American Review - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The American Review was founded by the fascist publisher Seward Collins in 1933 as the successor to his periodical The Bookman.
In the inaugural issue of The American Review, Collins praised Benito Mussolini for creating an ethical state and championed the rise to power of Adolf Hitler, whose revolution, Collins believed, heralded the end of the Communist threat.
A literary magazine entitled The New American Review debuted in 1967; in 1973 the title was reduced to The American Review.

North American Review - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Founded in Boston in 1815, The North American Review (NAR) was the first literary magazine in the United States, and was published continually until 1940, when publication was suspended due to World War II.
Until the founding of the Atlantic Monthly in 1857, the Review was the foremost publication in New England and probably the entire United States.
The Review promoted the improvement of public education and administration, with reforms in secondary schools, sound professional training of doctors and lawyers, rehabilitation of prisoners at the state penitentiary, and government by educated experts.

DVD Review - American Pie   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
For the first half of the film, "American Pie" seems to be determined to outdo itself by piling on one risque scene after another.
Speaking of music (and I just was), there is an advertisement for the soundtrack to "American Pie", which is followed by a music video by the band Tonic for their song "You Wanted More".
The theatrical trailer for "American Pie" is presented in the aspect ratio of 1.85:1.

dOc DVD Review: The American Astronaut (2001)
For a reviewer, there are few things in life as undeniably rewarding as coming across a film that literally reverberates with raw creativity and inventiveness, one that can cross art school hipness, genre predictability, and just plain weirdness.
My ilk (the whole reviewer subculture) have to watch a lot of lifeless and mundane trash along the way, so when something ridiculously new and exciting comes along it is cause for all sorts of high hosannas and fluttery praise.
Extras Review: Writer/director Cory McAbee provides what the backcover calls a "live" commentary, which means he was recorded at a screening before a small audience, and he fields questions and talks about the film as it runs.

American Chopper for PlayStation 2 Review - PlayStation 2 American Chopper Review
A bike-building thread runs through American Chopper, but it's so simplistic and disconnected from the rest of the game that it feels like an afterthought.
American Chopper is a classic example of a game that seems to have little purpose other than cashing in on a hot license.
Based on the TV series of the same name, American Chopper takes you for a ride on some of the hottest bikes around.

The character Jen (Jamie Hurley), Surreal’s Caucasian girlfriend, is handled quite poorly as it only reinforces the stereotype many ethnic Americans have of white American females.

American Chai seems like a first draft to what could have been a great and meaningful film.

American Conquest covers an extensive period of early North American conflict.
As most current RTS games are limited to half this volume, American Conquest garners a big bang for the buck rating.
In addition to campaigns, the game provides nine different single-player missions, covering a wide range of historical content, from invading the Mayan Yucatan as Cortez' captain, trappers hunting for Bison tongues, or the French Army marching on a British fortified town.

Review of American Literature: The Essential Glossary
Entries include an item on alcoholism comprising of a list of American authors who were alcoholics and many entries on magazines and journals such as the Union Magazine of Literature and Art which, we are told, published contributions from authors such as Edgar Allan Poe and Henry David Thoreau and very little other information.
Of course, there are plenty of other books which trace American literature, so perhaps it is just as well that Matterson’s book highlights other, less easily recognisable aspects of the field; though how far this knowledge would stretch for commonly assigned A-level texts is debatable.

"American Outlaws" started out as "Jesse James" but during the filming in the summer of 2000, the title was changed.
The problem with "American Outlaws" isn't the acting, which is predictably uninspired.
Purported to be a story of outlaw Jesse James, "American Outlaws" opens with a ludicrous battle between nattily attired Confederates and breathtakingly armed Union soldiers.

David Mamet Society: Review of American Buffalo
Review of Anglo American Interplay by Ruby Cohn
Upon entering the throbbing jazz-filled theatrical space where the Young Vic Theatre Company performed American Buffalo, audience members were only slightly removed from spectacular piles of “junk,” masterfully designed by Joanna Parker, with the vibrant sound design by John A. Leonard.
During Act I, in particular, a potpourri of “American” accents were heard from Donny: generic midwestern (yet rarely hitting the male cockiness and brashness, let alone nuances, of Chicago speech patterns), New York, and his most frequent choice, a Bostonian accent.

TV Review | The American Embassy, Pilot (2002)
The show's title was changed to The American Embassy in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on 9/11, and in a way the move could be seen as catering to the patriotic fervor in America at the moment.
Then again, the show is based on an American woman working in the American embassy in London, so the change of name seems appropriate, and even smart on the part of the producers.
Add to that a runaway 12-year old American girl hiding with her father, a roommate whose idea of sex is to let everyone in the country know about her every orgasmic moments, and a cross-dressing neighbor who turns out to be the perfect neighbor.

American Chopper is based on the extremely popular series of the same name.
I for one always enjoyed zooming around the cities found within the game and American Choppers feels identical, so as long as you aren’t coming off of an all day and all night Grand Theft Auto marathon you should be able to enjoy the driving physics and speed easily enough.
This game clings to the fact that it has players thinking about GTA because there really isn’t much else when you take that element away which is sad for a game based on a series about customizing choppers.

Combining extensive field work and library research, Dr. Foster draws up his theoretical model of the "conquest culture." giving at the beginning of each chapter a brief statement on transferences and modifications in Spanish America.
These comparisons, the chapter on "Contemporary Hispanic American Culture," and the conclusion in which the author applies his concept of "cultural crystallization" to the early history of the New World will particularly interest historians.

dOc DVD Review: The American Soldier (1970)
The American Soldier is the young German filmmaker's homage to the American gangster films he grew up watching, and many of the elements of them reappear here, given a rather eccentric and distinctive spin.
The lead, Ricky, is clearly modeled on American movie gangsters of a certain period, exemplified by James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart—women throw themselves at him because he's just irresistible, and though he's got an eye for the dames, he'd much rather cool his heels with a long stare and a good slug of Ballantine's.
You can sense that Fassbinder is having fun inhabiting the conventions of American moviemaking, but for U.S. audiences especially, this frequently feels more like a pale imitation than a re-imagining of a familiar genre.

The American Review - Silver Bullet Comics
I have fond memories of reading The American when it first came out in the late '80s and early '90s.
Government conspiracies are practically a given now - it seems like every other Hollywood movie has evil government agents keeping secrets from the American people, and almost every hero has been lied to, and is out for revenge due to those lies.
A Hollywood analogy is appropriate, since writer Mark Verheiden has moved from comics to a career in the TV industry.

DREADNAUGHT The American Standard review by briankay66
This musically insane 3-piece band hails from New England, (New Hampshire to be exact), and has unleashed a sound and style on an unsuspecting prog world that will not just knock your socks off, it will blow them across the room.
This largely instrumental, endlessly fascinating CD features chainsaw-fuzzball basslines driving diverse and complex compositions with all the subtlety of a good olde-fashioned Blitzkrieg, interweaving with usually clean, unusually intricate, eccentric guitar parts and rock solid drumming.
You will hear new things with every listen...slithering violin parts, multiple time signatures played simultaneously a la Zappa, nuances and interactions between musicians who favor integrity over commercialism, even some goofy lyrics and a CD cover featuring a previously unpublished piece of art by the brothers Hildebrandt.
