Review: The Art of War   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-05)
The Art of War, a somewhat pretentiously slick and stylish thriller from director Christian Duguay ( Screamers), is as sporadically entertaining as it is preposterous.
One thing to appreciate about The Art of War (the title of which, by the way, is taken from the book by Sun Tsu, whose philosophies are occasionally referenced) is its fast pace.
While there have been genre films of this sort to transcend their simple origins ( Enemy of the State comes to mind), The Art of War is content to remain safely within the constraints of the formula, as intellectually unfulfilling as that approach might be.

The Art of War (2000/I)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-05)
The Art of War refers to an ancient handbook by a mighty Asian general named Sun Tsu, who hypothesized that wars can be won without physical combat.
According to the action flick "The Art of War," Tsu's theories apply to the world of business and politics as they do to war.
There's enough action in this movie to classify it as a mixture of material arts and a James Bond, but after one perplexing situation after another, we simply toss our arms and stop caring altogether.

The simplicity of the Art of War as appossed to other Chinese texts on strategy such as the Master of Demon Valley (Cleary: 1996) means the text does not specify certain areas of strategy and exclude others.

The Art of War Movie Review by Anthony Leong from MediaCircus.net
" The Art of War " marks the return of actor Wesley Snipes to the action arena, which he last visited in the 1998 vampire-actioner " Blade ".
The most noticeable shortfall of "The Art of War" is the film's uninteresting and unintelligible script.
If it were not for the participation of Snipes, "The Art of War" probably would have languished among the other dozens of B-quality action films released straight-to-video each year, which usually star Ice-T or Christopher Lambert.

JoBlo reviews the movie "Art of War"
This movie was doubly interesting to watch for me since I was one of the few to see an early test screening of the film back in January.
The art of war had a predictable plot and its content was mixed with political mumbo-jumbo, but other than that the movie was great.
It wasn't the greatest movie and the story is too complex for me. I just really enjoyed all the kick ass moves Snipes pulls on everyone and the last fight of the movie is really good.

SPLICEDwire | "The Art of War" review (2000)
From that point on, "The Art of War" becomes a convoluted yarn of international conspiracies thinner than the paper the script is printed on and full of they-can't-be-serious espionage concepts, like that our stoic stud hero is a United Nations fl ops agent who does the dirty work of the power-hungry Secretary General (Donald Sutherland).
But this movie takes itself way too seriously for that kind of thing, and before long Wes has been double-crossed and finds himself on the run from enemies unknown, framed for the assassination of a Chinese diplomat who was about to sign a momentous trade agreement.
But despite attempts to at least give "The Art of War" a similar look and feel to "Mission: Impossible" and/or "Ronin," this flick has little in common with such adrenaline-driven intrigue thrillers, both of which at least had some discernable cohesion upon multiple viewings.
