The Artful Dodger is a character in the novel, Oliver Twist, by Charles Dickens.
The band enjoyed its most commercially successful period with Collins as vocalist, which essentially began in 1978 when the single "Follow You, Follow Me" became their first UK Top 10 hit.
He was the lead drummer for the jazz-fusion group Brand X and progressive rock band Genesis, and, after the departure of the latter's lead singer Peter Gabriel, lead singer of Genesis.

If you are from the UK and you hear this band being described as "garage" you could be mistaken for thinking that they are an Artful Dodger style band.
The band are from lower Michigan and formed around 1997, and at present consists of Ryan Smith on drums and Marc Keirns on guitar and vocals.
Members of the Augusta band Pawn are lucky to have several tour dates in Kalamazoo later this month.

 Artful Dodger: Re-Rewind - PopMatters Music Review
Of late, the buzz in club music is UK Garage, or 2-Step, a combination of drum'n'bass, four-on-the-floor garage and R&B. Among the leaders of this movement are Pete Devereux and Mark Hill, who together form Artful Dodger.
At times, Artful Dodger dips a bit far into the bucket o' cheese, and the lyrics become just too goofy to overlook.
And the Artful Dodger's mix compilation, Re-Rewind, is definitely Kool Aid.

The band were also celebrating their EIGHT number one single over the weekend when their Comic Relief single, Up town girl, reached the top of the charts in the UK.
Sources close to the band explained that the couple were in a taxi on their way from a party after the bands first Wembley concert.

Arrangers and producers Mark Hill and Peter Devereux, who are Artful Dodger (along with singer Craig David on this track), fill these three mixes with synth bass, sound effects, and stammered, filtered vocals.
A good record can be made of a bad song, just as the opposite is true, but on "Re-Rewind," Artful Dodger show themselves to be better record-makers than songwriters.

Matt then appeared as Gavroche in "Les Miserables" and The Artful Dodger in "Oliver!" (both for international renowned producer Cameron MacIntosh).
Matt then went on to play Gavroche in Les Miserables for Cameron Macintosh and also the Artful Dodger opposite Gary Wilmott's Fagin in Cameron's production of "Oliver".
Here's a bundle of fun for all the family to enjoy, with songs and dance routines performed by young Matt Jonson (who played the Artful Dodger in Cameron MacIntosh's production of "Oliver" as well as Gavroche in "Les Miserables" for the same company).
