The seller of the unusual first edition of what came to be called "The Bachman Shining" seemed unaware of the significance of Bachman's name, but did mention that he or she believed the book had been written by King, and supposed that the book represented a rare miss-print.
Bachman's embossed name on the hardcover spine of the Bachman Shining perfectly matches the weave of the cloth, disputing claims that the image has been digitally forged.
The Bachman Shining is observably in medium to poor condition, exhibiting stains, a yellowed and creased dustjacket, a broken spine, and many cracks and nicks.

I hate to say it, but if you are young, and are still in public/private school, then listening to a book is a cheap way out...since when I was i school I use to read a book a week...or two if it was a long one like the Unabridged version of The Stand.
If you are in college, and or in work, or run a buisness...reading a book is still possible, but not as likely unless you specifically allot your time to do it ie: before bed...

When my friend gave me this book to read she told me there was "something" in it that would scare the pants off me! Sadly i dont agree.
I have read Stephen King books before and found some of them were tough for me to finish (i usually got bored at the slow bits), with the exception of The Shining and Misery.
I have to say, books are generally more detailed than the films, but the film was graet aswell.

Misery was originally supposed to be the Bachman book that followed Thinner, the one King thought would break through on its own, without help from the famous name behind it.

I think he knew that the truth was going to come out anyway, and he liked the idea of this nobody book clerk in Washington getting the story instead of the New York Times or something.
King mentioned me by name in the intro to the original edition of the Bachman Books, but this has vanished in the current edition.
