New Haven Harbor is an inlet on the north side of Long Island Sound in the state of Connecticut in the United States.
The harbor is protected from Long Island Sound by a peninsula from its western side, once known as "Little Necke" but now called Lighthouse Point, because of the lighthouse that was constructed on its tip in 1805.
The original lighthouse was replaced in 1845 by the current structure, called the New Haven Harbor Lighthouse.

Sviggum is a Republican who supported ballpark proposals in the past; ironically, at one time Johnson was one of the biggest legislative proponents for a new ballpark.
Final details of the ballpark funding must be worked out among a consortium of banks providing financing, but everyone involved is thinking big: local property owners say they want to create a real neighborhood and be part of an urban-renewal development.
There is a lot of skepticism in the architectural world about the wisdom of building a ballpark that can be expanded in the future; the easier and cheaper course is building a ballpark for the 51s for $30 million and then starting from scratch to build an MLB park.

12/13/2004 Bluefish Seek Bailout Business New Haven   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
Despite the allure of their still-new, taxpayer-funded ballpark, the Bridgeport Bluefish are crying poverty and seeking major financial concessions from the struggling Park City they call home.
Those reductions would include accepting half of $500,000 in back rent the team owes the city for using the Ballpark at Harbor Yard, and reducing the current annual $250,000 lease payment to between $100,000 and $150,000, according to published reports.
Although the Bluefish have set state attendance records during their seven years in the city, team owners headed by onetime Physicians Health Services CEO Mickey Herbert have maintained that baseball franchise, which plays in the non-Major League Baseball-affiliated Atlantic League, has yet to end a season in the fl.

Should Taxpayers Play Ball? Business New Haven, Connecticut Business News Journal, CONNTACT.com, Business New Haven
We continue to oppose public participation in private, for-profit enterprises, whether it's lab space on spec for phantom biotech firms or that $20 million white elephant of a decade ago, the Connecticut Tennis Center (another Yale improvement at taxpayer expense).
For one thing, the success of Bridgeport's three-year-old Ballpark at Harbor Yard has come partly at New Haven's expense, as Ravens attendance has dwindled. To further rub salt in New Haven's wounds, Bridgeport this fall will host a new American Hockey League club skating in a new - taxpayer-funded - arena.
So the argument that a new ballpark is the magic bullet for Ravens' attendance is pretty shaky.

Along with the time issue, Bridgeport wanted to remove any suggestion that the site was dirty and therefore opted to have the 12,000 tons of dirt hauled away to a landfill, according to Mike Freimuth, the city's director of planning and economic development.
A new tool created by the legislature which was “very critical to the success” of the ballpark project, says Freimuth, was the ability to use LEPs.

All minor league teams tend to inflate numbers under the guise of tickets sold or distributed vs. gate (and how is the average fan or reporter to know), but if the Fish really sold as many tickets as claimed, then for many games 1/2 of the ticket holders stayed home.
