  The Bat (1926)
In frustration, the Bat trails the other thief’s car halfway across the county to the immense, sinister mansion owned by Courtleigh Fleming— and I’m guessing it isn’t quite a coincidence that Fleming is also the owner of the Oakdale Bank.
Meanwhile, people keep glimpsing both the Bat and Bandanaman prowling around the mansion, and there is much talk of a secret room hidden somewhere in the house, wherein the bank robber presumably stashed the $200,000 upon his arrival the other night.
This movie treats its characters much more roughly than The Monster had, and both the Bat and his fl-clad rival pose a far more credible threat than the earlier film’s quartet of kitschy madmen.

Most of the movie card sets checklisted are from the period between 1920 and 1960, though there are checklists that go back as far as 1904 and forward to the present day.
The first movies were made in the late 19th Century and the movie business was very primitive in the early part of the 20th Century.
Movie stars were a very popular subject, and the British cigarette cards documented these movie stars from the very beginnings of motion pictures.

Scifilm -- Musings, THE BAT (1926)
A murderous bank robber known as "The Bat" is loose in a country estate, and the residents believe he may be hiding in a hidden room in the mansion.
THE BAT is one of the cornerstones of the whole "Old Dark House" genre, but oddly enough, I had a little trouble warming up to it.
I'd seen its remake THE BAT WHISPERS (with the same director) twice, and though I seemed to like it well enough the first time I saw it, I was very bored the second time.

A crazed killer known as "The Bat" is on the loose in a mansion full of people.
One of the most intriguing things about the movie is the refreshing treatment of the lead heroine.
Unfortunately, the movie doesn't really capitalize much on the potential of its "big creepy house with a claw-gloved murderer on the loose" premise, and seems to run out of fuel towards the end.

Unfortunately the movie reels for the Selecto are smaller and "reversed" (the pictures would be backwards) compared to the standard Mutoscope movie reel.
As far as mutoscope movie reels go, the earlier movies were generally the more "spicy" variety, sometimes with topless women.
But when Rabkins bought Mutoscope in 1926, he largely policed himself and didn't release movie reels with naked women (though many were close, but no cigar!) Rabkin did however play up the idea that the Mutoscope could be a peep show viewer, using very racy and spicy titles.

This firefighter movie was filmed and set during World War II and spotlights the men and women who fought the blazes inflicted on London by the Nazis during the blitz of 1940.
From family dramas to military indoctrination movies, the focus of this piece examines how Goebels and other Nazi officials had their hands in every step of the German film making process, and reveals the subliminal (and sometimes) blatant anti semetic and pro-Hitler messages hidden behind even the most innocent looking of films.
Taped in the 1920’s this movie is based on the Conan Doyle novel about a group of explorers bringing back a live dinosaur to the civilized world, and the nightmare that ensues when it escapes and wrecks havoc on London.

The Bat Whispers is a talkie remake of Roland West's silent 1926 version.
The B-film tells a chaotic story that is incomprehensible to follow; but, it is visually interesting due to the mobile camera on dollies and aerial tracking shots inside the dark mansion and the overhead shot of The Bat, dressed in a fl cape, climbing up a skyscraper in the shadows of the night.
