The Beatle concerts were historically and culturally important in the mid-sixties as they struck at the very nerve of what became "Beatlemania" in the USA.
In the Beatles Anthology book, John Lennon revered the “Hollywood Bowl” concert as one of his favorite performances: "The Hollywood Bowl was marvelous.
"The Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl" was an official release which became part of the Beatle musical cannon.

The Beatles vs. Lingasong: The Star Club Litigation
One, "The Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl," was released by the Beatles' longtime label and with the help of producer George Martin; the other, "The Beatles--Live At The Star Club," was opposed by the band, and a lawsuit was filed in England to block the release of the album.
It was the Beatles' position that the statute also gave them a right to bring civil litigation for what they claimed was the unlawful use of their performance.
Apple and the "four musicians known as The Beatles" were the plaintiffs, but it was EMI that was launching the big ad campaign for "The Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl," and EMI that stood to lose sales if the release of the Star Club tapes caused confusion in the marketplace.

Live at the Hollywood Bowl - The Beatles - Song Listings
This is the official record of Beatlemania in full cry, a composite of two concerts recorded a year apart in Los Angeles' vast concrete amphitheater, the Hollywood Bowl, only about a mile away from the Capitol Records tower.
Producer George Martin had misgivings from the start about recording the band live, and those doubts were borne out by the results, an outgunned rock quartet without stage monitors trying to play over the sheer noise of 17,000-plus kids screaming their lungs out.
In fact, Ringo was the unsung hero of these wild events, always laying down a solid beat come hell or what may. In his stage announcements, John seems to be talking only to himself, while Paul the showman does make an attempt to connect with the crowd.

Perhaps not having access to complete original Beatles Hollywood Bowl tickets, or maybe because the original tickets did not have a photo on them, they made up their own imitations using ticket styles from the Shea Stadium concerts as well as 1975 Hollywood Bowl shows by Joan Baez and America.
The photo used behind the tickets was an actual shot of The Beatles on stage at the Bowl, but the curved background of the building was blended in using a then-current photograph.
At right is a close-up crop of the original still-unpublished photo of The Beatles that Capitol used, taken from the original negative.

Live recordings of familiar Beatles songs were one thing, but rumors of dozens of unheard Beatles titles had kept the collecting community drooling since the break-up.

 The Beatles
Along with Bob Dylan, the Beatles are the most frequently covered 60s songwriters.
It is the first Beatles album conceived as an album, not just a bunch of songs (their first released identically in the US and the UK), and the first rock album where the songs blend into each other with no breaks.
Only six Beatles tracks, two of them are recycled from earlier records (title track; "All You Need Is Love"), and the entire second side consists of assorted George Martin elevator music instead of the pile of additional tunes that appear in the film.

Seven years after The Beatles' breakup, the band's 1964 and 1965 shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles became the subject of Capitol's 1977 release Live At The Hollywood Bowl.
But prior to 1977, the shows were being heard on various bootlegs -- and in the 1980s and 1990s, bootleggers continued to offer different combinations of The Beatles' Hollywood Bowl performances.
The thing that makes this two-CD bootleg of 1997 special is its comprehensiveness -- the illicit Repro Man label provides unedited stereo recordings of The Beatles' appearances at the Bowl on August 23, 1964 and August 29-30, 1965.
