His Bell hour started on radio in 1940, then moved to TV -- to Studio 8-H, in fact -- in '59.
It was Whiteman, of course, who conducted the premiere of the Rhapsody, with the composer at the piano, in 1924, a full four decades before this Bell telecast.

Barbara Cook, one of the great Broadway voices of the 20th century, was fortuitously recorded for television's Bell Telephone Hour in 1960-65, just a few years after her Candide and The Music Man.
Again, the minimal staging isn't much to look at, but it's our only chance to see Cook in the role she created that was taken over by Shirley Jones in the movie version.
Watching Barbara Cook on the Bell Telephone Hour is sort of like watching The Judy Garland Show, except with an artist in the spring of her career rather than the autumn.

The Art of Jose Iturbi, piano
Originally telecast 1959-1962, these Bell Telephone Hour broadcasts capture something of the musical versatility of Joe Iturbi (1895-1980), the great pupil of the Valencia and Paris Conservatories of Music.
A rather patrician temperament came to vex Iturbi, who often objected to mixing classical with popular music, in spite of his "popular" image as a medium for the distillation of the classics into more palatable forms.
This eclectic blend of high musical taste and popular kitsch haunts the Bell Telephone Hour broadcasts, which present Iturbi in both a glamorized and austere perspective.
