Mac is a riot as he tries to hold his ground as an individual, but he loses out on such luxuries as going Las Vegas with the guys.
Bernie Mac's interaction with his family causes frequent funny moments, but there is another aspect to the show that I feel is the real gem.
It's nice to see that The Bernie Mac Show is being widely applauded for it's originality, especially when the star shares his appreciation with the audience on a daily basis.

Mac has a comically short temper and is hyper aware that the kids are crimping his style.
Mac's preferred method of waking up Jordan each morning is to shoot him with a squirt gun because "he hate water worse than a cat." He awakens Bryana by grabbing her ankles and shaking her vigorously upside down.
By ditching this style, The Bernie Mac Show is free to explore comedy in ways that regular sitcoms cannot, as in "Now You Got It!" where we follow fluorescent green cold germs as they are passed from person to person onscreen throughout the episode.

The plot of the show is that Bernie Mac essentially plays himself, a very successful stand-up comedian who uses his humor and charisma to take himself out of the tough urban streets of Chicago and is now living the American dream in his big mansion in the hills of Los Angeles.
In the show’s pilot episode, the whole plot for the show is set up as Bernie Mac greets the audience is his easy chair in his office and tells us the story of his sister’s incarceration.
Bernie doesn’t like to admit it, but by about halfway into the first season, he has fallen hopelessly in love with the kids and wouldn’t know what to do without them.

Bernie Mac adds some humor to the situation but he does't leave out the feelings and adjustments everybody has to deal with.

The show is very original and i found it was different from most shows on tv.
