 DELERIUM
Leeb wants everyone to know that the two voices behind Delerium's biggest successes have reunited, and made, what he proudly calls, the best album they've ever done.
But Delerium certainly isn't coming out unnoticed after the success of 'Silence.' Five years after the song became an international smash, topping the dance charts in the U.S., Britain, and more, Leeb is still modestly amazed by the song's popularity.
Leeb is the architect behind 'Chimera's' sonically uplifting and diverse soundscape, but, as has always been the case with Delerium, he had plenty of help in bringing his vision to fruition.

Karma by Delerium (lyrics & reviews)
That's not because this is their best album, it's because this is the type of music mainstream America wants.
The entire album is solid, with no song sticking out as a best or worst.
The CDs Karma, Semantic Spaces, and Poem all bridge the gap between Enigma and Deep Forest with a similar use of subdued tribal chants and haunting female background vocals.

Amazon.com: Archives, Vol. 1 [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED]: Music
Fans of dark gothic music will enjoy the albums, and Delerium fans who appreciate all three post-1994 albums will hear the underlying sound they love forming in each of the tracks.
Now while most of my favorite Delerium songs are off "Karma" and "Poem", I dug the tribal, orchestral ambient sounds of Delerium's earliest material.
The Archives are a practical solution to wanting more of the Delerium experience, and they deliver an enjoyable set of melodies.

Amazon.co.uk: The Best of Delerium: Music
Sadly, Delerium albums are very hard to come by, with their disting lack of publicity in the UK (of my form of 80, about 5 of us have heard of them, although with my advice many more are fans now).
The inclusion of two new tracks is an incentive to any Delerium fan, but although the lyrics of 'Paris' or 'You & I' possess the same resonance as displayed in earlier albums, they exhibit the same bland pop arrangements that prevented 'Chimera' from being an exceptional album.
Delerium started out as a more ambient group with none of the ethereal vocals that fans are so used to hearing.

 Delerium: album reviews and ratings
The best way to describe Delerium music of this era is to compare it to background music of scary movies: dark ambient electronic sounds, with occasional distorted male vocals.
And, as for Delerium's trademark inclusion of monastic chants, the duo preferred this time to find a choir and recreate the Gregorian melodies in a Vancouver church.
In 1994, Delerium introduced female vocals to their multi-layered keyboard arrangements, by hiring Kristy Thirsk (Rose Chronicles) to provide the angelic voices.

Delerium's albums do more wandering and get darker, while Best Of goes for the sweet fluff.
Sarah McLachlan set the standard for Delerium contributors with her work on "Silence," here in its original album mix, not the more remembered "Sanctuary" remix.
The new remix of "Silence" tacked onto the end of the collection is close enough to the "Sanctuary" remix to be a suitable replacement, and all the other tracks that made it onto the dancefloor or radio are included.

Delerium - Morpheus - Groove Unlimited
This 'cream of the crop' is one of the reasons this album is still Delerium.
One of the first and best Delerium CDs, Morpheus leans closer to the pagan death-folk of Current 93 than any of Leeb and Fulber's more industrial recordings.
There's a hint of deleriums trademark build-up which keeps you listening.

 [Audiophile Asylum] CD Reviews: Delerium
In this form, it's one of my favorite albums period (of course listening to both discs of the limited edition version is even better, but my point is if it were a one disc version with those substitutions it would be as good as they could make it).
The vocals on this album are a bit weak for the most part in terms of the mixing and presentation, at least on my main system (they seem more upfront with headphones).
One of the things that makes this album different from the last two albums is that it spends more time with songs that have extensive lyrics and guest singers.

Track three comes from a band we used to rave about in early Organs, the mighty Omnia Opera; one of the best space-rock bands of the late 80's who never quite got their shit together and should have been as big as The Ozric by now if they hadn't fallen apart.
Of note this time round are cosmic head-hunters Moosheart Faith Stellar Groove Band and Praise Space Electric, the twisted 14th Wray who invite you to a "Yuppie Deadhead Party" and the mutilated shriek of Boris And His Bolshie Balalaika which is bad drug craziness at its frothing, wild-eyed best.
Both Mooseheart albums, "Mooseheart Faith (Stellar Records) and "The Magic Square Of The Sun" (Stellar Records) are wonderous, tripped out, magical and breath-takingly varied musical visions.

The third album "Future Primitives" (1994) surprised with a totally different sound again, and can be best described as the male version of Deleriums "Semantic Spaces", as it was far more ambient than the previous Intermix material and featured monk and tribal chant samples in many places.
There were more beats than Delerium, more pace and more samples, which delivered a housey, a bit technoish feel on the first album "Intermix" (1992).
A single "Dream On" came out at the same time, its tracks were then re-released on the second album "Phaze Two" (1993), which had a far more technoish and dancey sound than the debut, and was promoted by 2 videoclips by Rod Chong.

Kristy Thirsk Interview and Souvenir Album Review at Musical Discoveries
Thirsk is known for her work with Juno Award-winning Rose Chronicles as well as the best selling Delerium albums that featured her vocal work.
The album comes on the heels of a Delerium tour to promote Chimera and an extensive long distance commute between the singer's home in Vancouver and Los Angeles, California, where she worked with producer Eric Rosse on the project.
Canadian vocal siren Kristy Thirsk is beloved by many as lead vocalist of the now defunct Rose Chronicles and oft-contributing singer for electronica band Delerium.

And when Fulber nails a vibe--as he does twice with singer Poe on the dreamy, goose-fleshy "Center of the Sun" and the downright chilling "Make a Wish," and with Tea Party belter Jeff Martin on the widescreen "Premonition"--he nails it, creating a haunted landscape best described as New Age-worldbeat.
As he did with Delerium, Fulber pairs guest vocalists of the mostly ethereal variety with gauzy ambient-tribal pop full of Eastern shadings and just enough chanting to maintain the spooky quotient.
Unforunetly, with this album, Rhys Fulber seems to be playing in the realm of pop somewhat.

Euphoria has managed to capture the best aspects of many different flavors of music and make a cohesive blend that seems magical.
In the beginning I had this CD confused with Delerium's album Karma which has a song titled "Euphoria (Firefly)".
Elsewhere, Euphoria go all oozy with melting ambient drips of sound or forge new means of rhythmic travel (think Pell Mell) as on the beautifully orchestrated closer "The Road," featuring reverberating and chiming guitar work, harmonica, shattered key and drum accents, and brilliantly utilized bagpipes.

Having been a fan of the band since "...On The Sunday Of Life", I'll have to say that the PF influences are most noticeable on that album (Wilson's Dave Gilmour-ish guitar solos), "Voyage 34" (damn-near a complete lift of some of the signature riffs from "The Wall") and "The Sky Moves Sideways".
I've had all the rare vinyl for sale at Cranium Music, which normally sells out pretty quick and if anyone is looking for copies of the double 10" LP of "Metanoia" then you better get in pretty quick as I understand this 1,000 LP pressing was sold out at Delerium one week before it's release.
