The biggest loser ironically seems to have been the Kenyan cricket team, which is locked in a dispute with the Kenyan tax authorities about a possible tax waiver on their winnings in South Africa.
Australia won the Cricket World Cup after beating India, who had bested Kenya in the semi-final.
The team received $530 000 for advancing to the semi-finals, but team members have seen their winnings wilt by 5m shillings as the stronger exchange rate reduces the Kenyan shilling equivalent.
