The Piasecki Helicopter company was acquired by Boeing in 1960, and this became Boeing Vertol.
In 1994, Boeing introduced its most modern commercial jet aircraft, the twin-engine B777, with a seating capacity of 390 passengers, in between the B767 and the B747.
Boeing's most successful new aircraft measured by recent orders remained the 737, for which it received orders totaling 387 new units in 2005 as reported on August 7.

After Darleen Druyan, an ex-Pentagon procurement staffer came into the employ of Boeing, it was discovered that there may have been a conflict of interest in regards to her employment.
Druyan was a key in procuring officer for a $23 billion contract from the Air Force to purchase a fleet of 767 tankers replacing the ageing fleet of KC-135s.
Boeing won the KC-767 contract from USAF, but due to abnormalities with the purchasing structure, this deal was placed on hold, to be resolved some time during 2005.

Boeing lists and reports these jigs as personalty to Snohomish County for property tax purposes and Boeing's work manual refers to the jigs as "tools." Boeing depreciates the main building at 40 years; it depreciates the building equipment at 25 years; and it depreciates the "tools"--including the jigs--at 12 years.
Boeing contends that this was done merely as a matter of convenience to assure the assessor that the jigs would be taxed somewhere and it notes that the tax rates for realty and personalty are identical.
