Bohemians is the term used to designate inhabitants of the former kingdom of Bohemia, located in the modern day CzechRepublic.
Another reason for 'Bohemian' fallingout of normal use is that the term 'Czech' (éeský) was officially promoted between 1919-1938 and 1945-1993 in accordance with theconcept of a united 'Czechoslovakia', created by the merging of Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia and Slovakia.
Bohemian FC is a Dublin football team founded in 1890.

The opera, The Bohemian Girl, composed by Michael William Balfe, also holds special significance for Nebraskans and readers of Willa Cather, who saw the opera as a teen-ager and whose work frequently makes use of its characters, plot, and, especially, its music.
Another indication of The Bohemian Girl’s popularity was a 1936 movie musical by Laurel and Hardy that was a parody of the opera, since parody assumes familiarity on the part of the audience.
The symposium is being coordinated with the Cather Project’s WWI Symposium.
