 Next Chairman of Liturgical Commission announced Church of England
Bishop Stephen said: 'In the Book of Common Prayer and Common Worship, the Church of England has excellent liturgical resources.
By then, the Commission's work on the Common Worship liturgical texts will be complete and the Commission plans to turn its attention to ensuring that the quality of worship offered in the Church of England is consistently high.
The Bishop of Salisbury, who has chaired the Commission since 1993, welcomed the appointment saying: 'Stephen Platten is a splendid and vigorous choice to lead the Liturgical Commission into its next phase of work.

The Bishop is editor and co-author of Celebrating Common Prayer, a daily prayer book.
In June 2003 he published The Pilgrim Prayerbook, a structured anthology of Christian prayer with orders for daily worship and themed collections of a wide range of material.
Rev David Staffurth Stancliffe was consecrated as the 77th Bishop of Salisbury at Westminster Abbey on 30 November 1993 and enthroned in Salisbury Cathedral on 9 December 1993, having previously been Provost of Portsmouth for 11 years.
