The Book of Eibon, or Liber Ivonis or Livre d'Eibon, is attributed to Clark Ashton Smith.
The book was written by Eibon, a wizard in the land of Hyperborea.
It was an immense tome of arcane knowledge that, among other things, contained a detailed account of Eibon's exploits, including his journeys to the Vale of Pnath and the planet Shaggai, his veneration rituals of Zhothaqquah (Eibon's patron deity), and his magical formulae—such as for the slaying of certain otherworldly horrors.

The contents of the Book of Eibon are primarily the work of Clark Ashton Smith, one of the most famous authors of Weird Tales and the inventor of the Book of Eibon, as well as Lin Carter, esteemed fantasy and horror editor.

Also unnecessary to the point of distraction are the innumerable comparisons of the literary creation of The Book of Eibon to the formation of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.

This book certainly gives a fantastic and quite contemporary view of the mythos through the the viewpoints of its quirky, interesting characters.
I'm not giving five stars to this book because, for me, five stars is something to give to Poe's "Cask of Amontillado", or, in a Mythos-related reference, to Lovecraft's own "Shadow over Innsmouth" (ok, those are short stories, but you get the point).
But the author may have been a bit too ambitious in writing his first book as a 400-page novel with a wide variety of viewpoint characters.

The high priest of Yhoundeh, Morghi, follows after Eibon, and the two enemies team-up to survive among the weird peoples of Cykranosh while Morghi seeks to deliver a sacred phrase he learned from one of Tsathoggua's 'relatives.' It is consistent in it's dark antique, fl-iron sorcery feel, which I enjoy a lot more (as an insiration, and a vehicle with which to explore the Mythos) than the usual cast of 1920's imperially-conditioned nervous wrecks who'd rather drink tea and argue outdated theories with their fellow scholars than investigate anything truly unusual.
