The box is a one of many Music television channels on SKY Digital television, and you have to say it’s far from the best.

In summary the box television channel is a ‘Fairly Good’ music television station (Hope this opinion isn’t rated the same).

The TV owner would rent the card from the local cable system operator; if or when the TV owner moved to another area and changed cable-service providers, he or she could simply turn in the card.
As you tune in each channel, you should see its virtual channel number (the channel assigned by the cable company, not necessarily the same channel number used by, for example, a broadcast station for its over-the-air service), along with the network or service call sign or name.
Moving cards from one TV to another means you'll have to phone in those same four keys again, because the Host, Data, and Unit Address numbers will automatically change the minute the card is swapped.

The Box - Review - The Box
The idea for The Box, allowing viewers to select what song they want to see using their phone, is quite unique and ideal for a low budget TV channel.
The problem is, the number you call to select your video is premium rate (60p per minute) and calls last about 3 minutes...this doesn't seem to deter people though because the service is very busy meaning that even when you select a song it can take about three hours before your selection is shown.
The videos you can choose from are very up to date with a few older ones thrown in (from late 1999), these can sometimes spoil the channel because these can be songs that you have heard so much you hate them, even the worst artists like Lolly get a fair go on this channel.

Ruel.Net - Any PC-TV Tuner Cards for Satellite TV?
I would think from either the perspective of the TV card manufacturer or the satellite TV provider in the US that it is simply easier to tell the user to hook up a box to the PC-TV card if the user wants satellite TV on the PC.
And the satellite TV provider wants to tell the user to get their proprietary box that the provider controls and that the provider has an investment in.
And the mere presence of the box itself would add an extra layer of security between the PC and the service in order to block off any direct PC hacking on the security mechanism which would be bound to happen if it were inside the PC.

A new tentacle will be added to Rupert Murdoch's global media empire next month with the launch in Britain of a television channel from Fox, a name hitherto associated with the flag waving patriotism of its US news network.
The launch of the channel on January 12 has raised questions about Mr Murdoch's strategy: it appears to compete, at least in part, with his struggling Sky One channel, run by BSkyB, in which Mr Murdoch's News Corporation has a 35% stake.
But the channel already has problems: its audience share fell to a nine-year low in September, and its channel controller, Sara Ramsden, resigned.
