The Brak Show, Vol. 1 DVD Review - MovieWeb
The show proved to be quite a riot with its array of celebrity guests and comical disputes between Space Ghost and the raspy-voiced mantis Zorak.
Another episode shows the damaging effects of a broken family when Brak’s mother is seduced by an owl/octopus hybrid and is taken to the creature’s mom’s basement where she is held captive in a cocoon.
The Brak Show is a jumbled, sometimes obnoxious program, but I still can’t help but snicker when I reflect on the episodes.

The Brak Show   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-04)
I think Brak's mother's voice-actress' changing from an American-voiced one to a British-voiced one, without any sort of explanation, is a meta-joke about the sort of '60's sit-com the show uses as its (bloody, shuddering) skeleton.
Shows such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman, Sealab 2021, and Space Ghost: Coast-to-Coast all forsook the comic elements that paralyze the sitcom format - A defined plot that can be recognized and easily predicted within five minutes of the show's opening.
Brak Show too often tries to follow the format of a sitcom, and their tangents into random humor are so stale that it becomes hard to laugh at something that should be funny.

 The Brak Show
The Brak Show is a hilarious look at the formative years of Brak (obviously), who lives on his home planet with his little brother Sisto, best friend/bad influence/co-star/sidekick Zorak, and his parents, in a 50's style family sitcom-type enviroment.
In this series (the 5th show that Brak and Zorak has ever been on), Williams Street parodies usual sitcom stereotypes, including the feared laugh-track, annoying neighbors, people slipping on freshly waxed linolium kitchen tiles for a cheap laugh, and, of course, the four foot tall shrink-ray victim of a father with a bizzare accent.
This is Brak's infamous mother, the same woman who got so excited when Brak said he got a D in gym class that she baked him a cake, and sends her oldest son out to buy dairy products routinely.

Brak Show: Volume 1, The (US - DVD R1) in Reviews > Video Discs at DVDActive
The show itself is deliberately given a 1950s, Leave it to Beaver feel to add to the absurd level of comedy that is being achieved: each episode begins with your typical family sitcom music and ends with a blatantly poor attempt at finding a moral to the story.
The universe in which The Brak Show resides in is weird, and sometimes the less time you spend in it in one sitting, the better.
Brak was a co-host of the show "Cartoon Planet", however, and it was from there that his popularity took off.

In this show, he would interview all manner of stars, babble endlessly as if he had Alzheimer’s, and share banter with Zorak (his giant preying mantis of a band leader), which usually ended with Zorak’s being blasted by a ray.
Brak’s parents consisted of a June Cleaveresque mom, from whom he obviously got his looks, and a rather… uhhh….
The show is very silly, but once you’re on the same wave-length as the writers, you’ll find that it can be hysterically funny.

Brak (character) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On an episode of Cartoon Planet, when responding to a viewer's letter, Brak revealed that the cause of his sudden stupidity was the after-effects of being thrown into a space dust cloud by Space Ghost at the end of one of the original shorts.
Brak eventually made more frequent appearances on Space Ghost Coast to Coast, often times just yelling "All hail Braaak!!!" or "Hi my name is Braaak!!", until Cartoon Planet premiered on TBS in 1995 and his character developed more of a personality, as well as a vocabulary (to some extent).
Brak's voice was provided by Keye Luke in the 1966 animated series; in all modern appearances (beginning with Coast to Coast), he has been voiced by Andy Merrill.

So much Brak in a single package may be too much for the casual fan, but for the Brak obsessive in your life, this will be comedy nirvana.
The show has two of space ghost's villans Brak and Zorak, and this show follows their lives when they were young.
The show normally has a song that Brak sings and is normally funny and pointless (like most adult swim shows)If you never seen this show before this DVD will not disapoint if you love low brow humor.

All of the characters on The Brak Show were so great, especially Brak and Dad, and Thundercleese was the perfect "wacky" neighbor.
Though "Brak" was I think a clever and creative show (the "George Martinez" episode, with the intricate spy stuff, was really well done), the silly incongruities of it were perhaps what I enjoyed most.
Brak was a fearsome looking tiger-man and "space pirate" with an absurdly childish voice, and (as in the last episode) no shame about asking his "mommy" if his "undies" were clean.

Brak Presents The Brak Show Starring Brak was just a random variety show with Brak and Zorak, so it's inclusion is arbitrary.

This show was hilarious and I can't believe why Cartoon Network's Adult Swim would take such a funny show like this off the air.
The show is about Brak (from the Space Ghost cartoons, SGCC and Cartoon Planet) who lives his every day life with his Mom and Dad and his best friend who likes to drop in a lot, Zorak!
Another episode I like is the one where Brak's Dad and their next door neighbor, Thundercleese the Robot keep getting into this agrument and then they get eaten by a giant worm.

It goes without saying that The Brak Show is an acquired taste for those that aren't already fanatical about Adult Swim titles, but for those that can roll with the surreal stories and humor, there are a lot of quirky laughs to be found here, especially from Merrill's performance as the slow-witted but eager Brak.
The show's utter surrealist tones make it all the more enjoyable for those who are into that sort of thing.
The lack of extras is annoying, but when it comes right down to it, no one was really anticipating the release of the brak show on DVD: the fact that adult swim gave us the obligatory volume 2 after volume 1 at all is a bit surprising.
