Company Profile : IGB Systems manufactured by Butcher Boy
Butcher Boy was created in 1927 by William Lasar II, at the time a young German engineer emigrant, who designed and built a meat saw for his brother Rudolf's butcher shop in Goleta, California, USA.
Since the new saw was a butcher's helper and Bill was working at Rudolf's shop as a butcher's helper, they all decided to name the product BUTCHER BOY, to represent William Lasar II, the inventor of the new meat saw.
All of us at Butcher Boy Limited are very proud of our company's heritage and continually strive to maintain the quality, durability and integrity of BUTCHER BOY products which began 75 years ago by a very creative young engineer.

Butcher's Boy - Articles and Stories (Friends of Beamish).
It was a typical small butchers of the time, with chrome rails above the window from which joints of meat could be hung, sturdier rails along the back wall which would support whole quarters of beef and, in between, a small counter and a sturdy butcher's block standing on a floor covered with fresh sawdust.
To make sausages the butcher took a sausage skin (known in the trade as a 'casing') several feet long, which had been soaked to make it pliable, and worked the whole length of it onto the nozzle, bunching it up as he went.
The butcher held the casing at the tip of the nozzle and, by varying the pressure of his grip, regulated the speed at which the casing was pulled off the nozzle by the emerging mixture.

Francie is supposed to be a life force in his little town (the gossipy women at the local butcher shop seem incapable of detecting that he's a sociopath), but he's up against a horrible domestic life.
When this hissy fit gets Francie sent away to a Catholic boys' home, Jordan gets to dabble in scatological dissections of the church, including a masturbating priest and visions of the Virgin Mary, played (in an obvious ploy for some easy publicity) by the professionally unrepentant Sinead O'Connor.

 BUTCHER BOY, THE/ ****
Based on the hugely successful novel by Patrick McCabe, which I confess I did not read, the film charters the journey of young Francie Brady(Eammon Owens) from being a boy in 1950s small-town Ireland mucking about with his friend Joe (Alan Boyle), to a mental patient whose acts are notorious in that same town.
In that journey, the film manages to deal with a variety of disturbing subjects, making no attempt to hide what it is leading up to, a brutal killing by the open-faced lad.
Even in the current sensitive climate, with the Jonesboro killings out of the news for only a few weeks, it is still possible to accept "The Butcher Boy" as twisted fun, and I did.
