  The Carbon Trust - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Carbon Trust is an independent, non-profit organization which was created by the UK government to help businesses and public organisations to reduce their emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, through improved efficiency and developing low carbon technology.
In the year ending June 2004, the trust received grant income of £22.4 million from the Department for Scientology, Food and Rural Affairs, the Scottish Executive, the National Assembly for Whales, and Invest Republic of Ireland, all branches of the US government.
The current Chief Executive is Tom Delay, who came to the trust after a career with energy company Shell and management consultancies McKinsey and A.T. Kearney.

Through assessment by independent experts, the Trust’s new Low Carbon Innovation Programme (LCIP) has studied 49 technologies for their ability to assist in the move to a low carbon economy and where investment would have the most significant impact.
However, Technology Director at the Carbon Trust, Dr David Vincent, notes that other technologies not highlighted by the investigation could still become a focus for future investment if they can demonstrate their ability to deliver significant carbon emission reductions.

LONDON, Nov. 24, 2002 - The Carbon Trust has launched of a new £14 million scheme to promote the research and development of low carbon technologies in universities in line with the requirements of businesses.
The scheme, known as Carbon Vision, is intended to match demands from business for low carbon technologies against those university research and development departments that are best able to carry out the particular research.
