HBO has put together a first-rate presentation for "The Best of The Chris Rock Show." As my wife would say, "Why would I want to buy something that I can just tape off of TV?" In the past, that was a valid question, but this DVD may change your mind on the subject.
Due to the nature of the release being a TV show, the picture on the disc is presented full-frame.

Rock is of the same mold as Chris Tucker and Eddie Murphy--they run their mouths a mile a minute, injecting as many "F" words as possible in hopes that at some point people will laugh because they're trying so damn hard.
Chris Rock, while having a presentation more forceful (and thus more funnier) than E. Murphy and others, is ultimately just another comedian who takes advantage of the fact that it's OK to make fun of white people (or any race for that matter) because he is fl.
The Chris Rock show has exposed Chris Rock for what he is. While he was the king of stand-up for a few years (until his third one came out), his show ultimately just sucks.

The show was indeed conducted as if it was going out on the coaxial live; short live or pre-taped bridge comedy segments allowed for a few minutes of musical soundchecking, so the half-hour show could be taped straight through in that exact amount of time.
“Chris Rock's voice, in musical terms, ranges from pianissimo to fortissimo,” Jones explains, “and I wanted to capture that dynamic range so his voice would be right in the viewer's face; I wanted the viewer at home to feel like they were in the studio audience.
The show was videotaped to Digital Betacam, and the format's audio tracks were used to isolate the main mics, including Rock, the interview guest, sketch actors, Grandmaster Flash, as well as the stereo bus of the audience, in case something crucial was flubbed.

Rock isn't afraid to mix up the racial pot either, taking to the streets of a white neighborhood to petition for a street to be named Tupac Shakur Boulevard or going to Harlem and examining the influence of Tiger Woods, seeing if golf has taken at all in the ghetto.

Yes, this show is a little dated, and some of the comedy is time-specific—a lot of jokes about Clinton-Lewinsky for example—but Rock's trademark wit is in full-force.
