The beautiful city of Baroda   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
The city was once called Chandravati, after its ruler Raja Chandan, then Viravati, the abode of the brave, and then Vadpatra because of the abundance of banyan trees on the banks of the Vishwamitri.
And it is one of the few cities in India which is still influenced by the lost might of its ruling dynasties.
The average Barodian is open to the world and overflowing with hospitality, as the history and growth of the city aptly testify.

In the City (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In The City was the debut album of British Punk band The Jam.
It was released in 1977 (see 1977 in music) by Polydor Records and featured the hit single and title track "In The City".
It is clear to see the Pete Townshend/Who influence on this record - due to some of the Motown covers and the early tri-chordal songs on this album, such as Art School - which some critics at the time dismissed as they saw Weller as trying to be a revivalist of the Mod era.

Compare Prices and Read Reviews on The Town And The City [Digipak] * by Los Lobos at Epinions.com
They have albums that are huge houserockers (Good Morning Aztlan), and they've had albums that are big huge love fest jam sessions with their musical buds (The Ride).
It's also a reflection on how cities like Los Angeles got to be the great cities that they are, and it was largely on the backs of hard-working immigrants who built their lives and their families as they built the city they live in.
Yet, as the city grows and sprawls, there's still the familiar "neighborhood"....the "town" in which East L.A. is simultaneously a mere part of a larger metropolis while playing a much larger, more significant part for the people whose lives embrace it.

The City - Vangelis - Music Downloads
This is a day in the life of a city, its denizens shaking off sleep and moving through the busy streets and promenades only to return home and (presumably) start the process all over again.
Vangelis' city is cosmopolitan, tastefully blending exotic sounds and disembodied voices, at once futuristic yet reassuringly familiar.
True, there are some gaps in The City where key events seem to be missing, but Vangelis clearly had the beginning and the end of a good idea here.

 The City of Baguio
Also portrayed in this album are photographs and newspaper articles of the big and destructive earthquake of 1990 which brought death and destruction to the city.
The cover photo (shown at left) of the album portrays the former city mayor of Baguio, Mauricio G. Domogan, in an authentic Igorot attire of a native warrior and participating in an Igorot dance ritual.
The album is divided into two main parts consisting of pictures portraying different places in the city.

This is a great album that'll get you dancing or tapping your toe whether you may be listening to it.
You would think the album would be very indie based being an Irish band and all and a lot of band of recent years from Ireland have been indie.
This album has a very American ring to it, others reviewers have said it is an Americana pop album and in it is. But is is very well executed and is a joy to listen to.

The City (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The City is a 1990 album by the Greek artist Vangelis.
It can be seen as a concept album in many respects, citing concepts from urban life and alluding to the big city atmosphere.
Although The City is the first album after Direct (1988), there is no mention of the "Direct series" as discussed in that album's sleeve notes.

Tobias Fröberg : Somewhere in the City - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
But there's no real reason to play spot the influence here: Fröberg is an original and Somewhere in the City, the artist's second album, is a delicious trifle.
Nearly every instrument is played by Fröberg and his co-producer, Linus Larsson, and although a few guests are brought on board (Norway's Ane Brun sings a duet with Fröberg on "Love and Misery"), this is clearly not a group effort.
When the album does, on occasion, raise its volume and venture toward rock, it feels lost, the lone exception being "When the Night Turns Cold," the opening, bongo-driven pop gem that, for some inexplicable reason, was used in a European ad for Panasonic cameras.

Cokemachineglow.com : Los Lobos: The Town and The City
The band’s twelfth studio album, The Town and The City, is therefore something of a surprise.
Their best album in a decade, it shows the continued importance and growth of a band that has been together even longer than Sonic Youth (yeah, it’s possible).
The latter half of the album (the City half, one would assume) is something of a return to standard Los Lobos fare, but well above average.

The City proves beyond a doubt that Paul Brown is one of the most exciting and important guitarists in contemporary jazz.
Mixing vocals in the album's title track with some funky grooves in "Motha for ya" proves that he feels comfortable enough to explore different territories.
The instrumental version of "The City" is a true gem and the presence of saxman Boney James is an added value to this great album.

There are a few bright spots on the album, the title track and “The Only Medicine” which have catchy choruses as well as “The Only Medicine” having a great guitar solo.
The biggest problem with the album is the ridiculous amount of faux angst found in the lyrics.

Hefner - We Love The City : album review
But this is a fun album, from start to finish, even if one of the songs is called 'The Day That Thatcher Dies' and has children singing "Ding dong, the witch is dead, which old witch, the wicked witch."
Hefner are a band whose songs are pitched somewhere between Blur and The Levellers; the former's off-the-wall guitars and the latter's vocals.
The title, 'We Love The City', is quite obviously ironic in the best traditions of The Levellers' sledgehammer wit, but the message is definitely relayed - Darren Hayman and his chums are a tad pissed off and they'd quite like you, the listener, to sympathise.

Swedish singer/songwriter Tobias Froberg has the gentleness of Belle & Sebastian and the wryness of Jens Lenkman, and the songs on his debut record display ample amounts of both.

Fun Lovin' Criminals - Living In The City : album review
This is the home coming album after a franky embarrassing period where Huey et al swapped wry tales in the boroughs for speed boats and smaltsy Miller adverts.
Back on dry land, it's all about re finding inspiration from the streets when they are clearly very edgy and jaded by the parties that they led to.
This is not to say that they are about to tie concrete weights around their lounge suits and leap into the Hudson.

Eyeball Kid - The Thrills - So Much for the City - Album Review
It seems a man can't walk safely around the streets of Dublin these days without bumping into some knucklehead banging on about the Thrills and how their debut album is the best thing since robbing tourists.
The singles released so far ‘Big Sur’, ‘Santa Cruz’ and ‘One Horse Town’ are a fairly solid indicator as to what to expect from this album.
This album is one of the most accomplished and melodic debuts to leave Irish shores but it remains to be seen if The Thrills have what it takes to prosper once the initial groundswell of good will that has enveloped them has faded.

It's sad to say it, but this album is disappointing and Melanie's charm seems to be wearing a bit thin.
More difficult to get into than "Gather Me" which was, for me, her best LP to date.
"Garden In The City" is the opener, a hymnal lament, which ain't as optimistic as the cover pic suggests: "the stone was his home, he said his heart was mine" says Mel…and them city boys, well, we all know about that.
