The Colour and the Shape - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Colour and the Shape is the Foo Fighters' second album.
It was released May 20, 1997 through Roswell/Capitol Records.
As of June 2005, The Colour And The Shape remains Foo Fighters' biggest US seller, with 1.9 million units sold.

It should be more like the stroke effect or the outer glow effect, however not using a uniform colour, but the "edge" (or outline) colour of the shape.
This is good for a shape with a uniform outline colour (like a cartoon drawing with a fl outline), but for a cut-out picture e.g., this trick doesn't work, obviously.
I still have one problem, though, when using Stroker's method: when such a shape with a modified (grown) background is alpha blended in the animation software I use, there is obviously no more halo (which was the purpose of this all), but the halo is "replaced" by the grown background colour.

The target differed in each task: task #1, the target was discriminated by shape, colour was held constant; task #2, the target was discriminated by colour, shape was constant; task #3, the target required discrimination of a conjunction of features, colour and shape; task #4 (redundant task) the target could be discriminated using either feature.
N2 amplitudes were equivalent for targets and non-targets in task 2; this was also the case in the redundant task, suggesting that subjects used colour for target discrimination, when they had the choice.
Both shape and colour are processed primarily by the ventral visual pathway; the current data suggest that this processing is faster and more lateralised when the critical information is shape.

ow set your foreground colour to fl and your background colour to anything you like, that colour will be the colour of your shape cat.
Now change your background colour to something lighter for his belly and make another ellipse, smaller this time and place it into the first.
hange your background colour back to the original and make some more ellipses to look something like the image below, do the back legs first and the frontlegs last, the head doesn't matter, that way they'll be in the right order.

Review of the Foo Fighters' "The Colour and the Shape"
Encompassing the late band’s drummer Dave Grohl (the frontman and chief creative force of the Foo Fighters) and guitarist Pat Smear (who left after this album), it is more than a little tempting to imagine that this group is merely a pale imitation of one of rock’s most legendary bands.
However, the one key area where the two bands differ is that The Colour and the Shape illustrates the greater versatility of the Foo Fighters.
The melodies present on The Colour and the Shape, though perhaps overshadowed at times by their exuberance, are what make the album so impressive.

All in all, "The Colour and The Shape" is in my opinion the best Foo Fighters album yet, and is undoubtadly one of the finest albums of the 90's.
This album released in 1997 'The Colour And The Shape' spearheaded the rock group into the worldwide rock stage and brought them many new fans in turn.
The Colour And The Shape (TCATS) is basically born out of Dave's divorce, and thus many songs encapsulate his anger, despair, sadness, reluctance to let go.

Much like the Door's John Densmore, it will be a while before Dave Grohl sheds the honor/albatross of being the drummer for the late, great Nirvana and achieves solo distinction for his own talents as an artist.
Namely, freeing Grohl and company (fellow Foo Fighter Pat Smear, who left the band in a well-publicized last gig at the 97 MTV Video Music Awards, was also a brief presence in Nirvana) from the shadow of Kurt Cobain.
Much of "Colour" finds Grohl returning to his hard core roots, a move that, given his experience with the D.C. band Scream, should surprise no one.

Foo Fighters : The Colour and the Shape
Since the first Foo Fighters album was a collection of Dave Grohl solo recordings, their second album, The Colour and the Shape, is in many ways their official debut, and it certainly does sound different than its predecessor.
Still, the lack of immediate hooks prevents The Colour and the Shape from truly catching fire.

Unfortunately, that's not saying much, and the band is hampered both by a lack of melodic inventiveness and Grohl's tendency to screech, instead of sing, a tune.
The Colour and the Shape definitely has its moments -- "My Hero" and "Up in Arms" stick out, and "'Monkey Wrench" is one of my favourite singles of '97 -- but, as a whole, the album drags, with too many songs coming up filler.
I'll still be waiting: The Colour and the Shape is pretty good, but it's not what I'm sure the Foo Fighters are capable of.

The record itself was even better than the single-- the lovesick ballad "Big Me", the full-throttle buzz of "I'll Stick Around", and to my surprise at the time, the charming "For All the Cows".
Some band that memorized that first album, cut a demo for Capitol and signed a deal to record an overcommercialized imposter lacking all the melody and charisma.
What I'm saying is: The Colour & The Shape is like opening a time capsule from 1992 and realizing that the things you thought would transcend time had just become a bad joke.

I remember the time when the Foo Fighters released this album, the Colour and the Shape, as the time when prevailing modern alternative rock began its disintegration into the scrum of rap-metal, numetal, lots of Creed and lots of Korn.
The hell that was modern alternative rock back then, I guess in retrospect, made me appreciate this album, The Colour and the Shape, a whole lot more.

The last 4 tracks are an absolute treat and 'Everlong', 'Walking After You', and 'New Way Home' is about a strong a 1-2-3 punch to finish of an album as I have ever seen, rivaled by none other.
"Colour and the Shape" is an absolutely essential album.

"The Colour and the Shape" is the best Foo Fighters album, and that's saying a lot as they're all pretty good.
For instance, while "There is Nothing Left to Lose" begins with three great songs it sort of tapers off as the album progresses.
Songs like "Monkey Wrench", "My Hero", "Everlong", and "Walking After You" are well-known (and maybe slighly overplayed when it comes to the first two) but all 13 songs are quality listens.

The exhibition reconsiders the 1960s chapter of colour field art not through critic Clement Greenberg's restrictive formalist lens, but rather opens up the impulse to pure colour and form to comprise a half-century of painting, sculpture and installation work.
