High elves are masters of Colour magic and this is also expressed by the fact that with their high initiative they can quickly drain the Winds from an area and weave their magic, depriving all other spellcasters of the chance to finish their own sorceries.
Indeed, each Colour has such distinct characteristics, styles, and qualities, that becoming a Colour wizard is a little like becoming a cleric in that the hopeful must study, learn, and even attune their very psyche and personality as close to that of the chosen power as possible if they are to reap its benefits.
Colour wizards must also devote themselves utterly to their branch of energy and where independent wizards may acquire a broad base of spells, a college wizard must apply themselves to a limited chosen filed of the most potent kind.

 Introduction to Spell Colour
Arcane knowledge of one of the colours should either be established at the character's creation, or acquired through a later story event (the Magus reads a summae concerning an arcane colour or is taught how to use a new colour by someone both skilled in the colour and able to teach her in its use).
This colour is also highly illegal according to the church, who perceive of the practice as contrary to the free-will God has given mortal man, and possessing a reputation for practicing the art is certain to attract the attention of ecclesiastical authorities.
In this case, a lesser coloured spell (1st or 2nd magnitude shift) is elevated to 3rd magnitude shift by slaving it to an arcane connection to the target in addition to the required herbal token.

Seven colours from this selection, the three principal colours and their opposites, along with fl, have long been associated with the 7 Days of the week, the 7 Metals known to the ancients, and the 7 Planets which can be seen with the naked eye.
The most common method of representing colour in computers is to assign a number of bits (binary digits, each of which can be '0' or '1') to each of the three primary colours.
With nearly 17 million different colours available by this method, it is not usual to think of every colour by its 24-bit number but to think of the three components as separate 8-bit values.

Candle Magic : The Colour & The Flame - by Blackhawk
So from red [the colour of passion, desire and emotion], to green [the colour of growth and prosperity]; from white for spiritual cleansing and peace to fl for dispelling negative energies - colours are identified with aspects of life which we may choose to enhance or seek protection against.
Magic, ceremony, ritual and worship itself is, and should be, a work of art created by each person, suiting their requirements and their personality.
As far as Candle Magic is concerned, the main body of the ritual will involve meditation and focus on the coloured candle [the relevance of the colour to the purpose of your ritual] and its flame, along with visualisation or chanting to focus on any desired outcome.

Colour Magic review, by Tom Vasel
In fact, the game is almost non-existent, as Colour Magic is more of a puzzle than a game.
It's a puzzle/game that I'm happy to own, and it is very interesting that the game can appeal to a four year old as well as an adult and be equally challenging to both.
I enjoy trying the puzzle, which is rather fiendish, because it's a lot harder than it looks, and am glad to own Colour Magic because of this.

Making microscope filters with the Lee colour MAGIC complementary filter set.
For some time I have been using a simple colour quadrant filter for the microscope made from a cheap pair of red and blue 3D glasses, this has served me well giving good colour saturation when needed but I am always on the look out for new colours to test.
In the past I have tried a number of different coloured plastic material normally coming as part of packaging for some product or other and always found that once high intensity light was shone through them from the microscope the colour became washed out or the plastic was too flimsy to support itself properly.
Subtlety can be the key here, not too much colour variation...however for crystal slides or similar almost anything goes so this is where the upper left colour wheel comes into play with primary and complementary red-green and blue-yellow giving rich colours.

PocketGamer Review - Discworld: The Colour of Magic // Mobile /// Eurogamer   (Site not responding. Last check: )
The Colour of Magic game, like the book, concerns the adventures of a wizard called Rincewind who's reluctantly 'encouraged' to look after Ankh Morpork's first tourist, a naive yet wealthy chap called Twoflower, by the Machiavellian city ruler Lord Vetinari - and did we mention Death and the demonic suitcase?
The central aim of The Colour of Magic is to direct Twoflower towards the more salubrious sights (like the Unseen University or Temple of Small Gods), but it's keeping him away from the less auspicious ones (the sharp end of a dwarven axe or the bottom of a stage coach) that makes for the challenge.
Rincewind's role as guide is taken very literally here; you physically nudge your companion in the direction you want him to go and away from the perils of muggers, swamp dragons or Dibbler's pies.

Colour of Magic, The by Terry Pratchett - Book
I have chosen to write about the colour of magic because it is one of my favourite books by my favourite author Terry Pratchett who is a great fantasy writer but uses humour as well.
It is set in the fantasy world of Discworld, a flat world on top of a disc which is balanced on the shoulders of four elephants who are all standing on Great A Tuin(sex unknown), the giant turtle who travels through space.
In The colour of magic there are, as an introduction to the Discworld series, four small novels where we follow Rincewind, a failed wizard who cannot memorize spells due to an accident in the unseen university(mage school).

This is also the book in which Pratchett devised the Discworld's unique cosmology -- a flat, magic-heavy world perched on the shoulders of four elephants, who in turn stand on the comet-scarred shell of Great A'Tuin, the space turtle of unknown purpose and gender.
The first story, "The Colour of Magic," is set in Ankh-Morpork, a twin city of dubious character, and largely revolves around the introduction of tourism and the city's destruction by fire.
Pratchett has not hit his full stride this early in the game, and he is perhaps a bit too punny (a la Piers Anthony) at times, but it's a great way to start the series.

A quest to see all the sights, rather than to achieve some altruistic goal such as a girl or a magical cup, as is often the case in most fantasy stories.
In many regards, Pratchett uses Twoflower and Rincewind as a means to introduce the reader to all the sights and sounds of Discworld, as well as the conglomeration of characters that inhabit the world, preparing the reader for all of the Discworld books that follow.
The Colour of Magic is not the best of the lot, but it still deserves an excellent rating.
