The Craft (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Craft is a 1996 movie directed by Andrew Fleming about a girl who moves to Los Angeles, California from San Francisco, California and meets three friends who teach her about the world of (fictional) witchcraft.
The film employed state-of-the-art special effects, presenting "gothic fashion" and pagan behavior to the MTV Generation in an attractive package.
Originally the film was going to include the trailer for The Lost World: Jurassic Park; hower, it preceded the film's release by a year and 20 days.

To add to the confusion, the term witchcraft, in popular older usage and in a modern historical or anthropological context, means the use of fl or evil magic, that which Wicca is said not to encourage.
Nonetheless, the most widespread theory is that after Gardner retired from adventuring around the globe, he encountered Clutterbuck and her New Forest coven in the region of the same name.
Gerina Dunwich, an American author whose books (particularly Wicca Craft) were instrumental in the increase in popularity of Wicca in the late 1980s and 1990s, disagrees with the Wiccan concept of threefold return on the grounds that it is inconsistent with the Laws of Physics.

Because these films are made independently from the studio system, a film festival gives these artists an opportunity to have their work shared with the public.
Because film festivals such as ours are not owned and supported by a profit-oriented corporation, we rely wholly on grants, donations, fundraisers, and entry fees to survive.
We require that all films entered are under 60 minutes, have been made within the last three years, are either super-8 or 16mm, and are married prints (no double system).

In "The Craft", a new girl moves into Los Angeles and tries to get along with the local teens, only to find herself part of a much smaller group.
The most interesting detail that Fleming offers is that when he submitted the film to the MPAA, he thought that the film would simply be PG-13, because there isn't that much in the way of language.
They told him that the film would be R because simply it involved teens and witchcraft.

It related to THE CRAFT because the girls were about the same age, and each of the characters had a correlative to new characters: there was a kind of cynical, manipulative girl; then there was a kind of shy, naive, virginal girl; a sensible, moral girl; and there was a self-loathing girl.

We do not end up with the same characters that the film starts out with and the only reason for this is the film's contorting itself out of shape for the sake of a big effects climax and to create a villainess.
