The Craft is one of my favorite movies of all time.
This is seriously a great movie, and if you are looking for a wicked fun time, definately see the craft.

Computer Crafts   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-25)
Some crafts have been practised for centuries, while others are modern inventions, or popularisations of crafts which were originally practiced in a very small geographic area.
Most crafts require a combination of skill and talent, but they can also be learnt on a more basic level by virtually anyone.
Many of these crafts become extremely popular for brief periods of time (a few months, or a few years), spreading rapidly among the crafting population as everyone emulates the first examples.

This movie is quite compatible with that view, and that view has persisted as a minority voice down through the ages, mainly through the mystics.
Craft: I don't know how you define a traditional Christian, but some of the experiential parts of spirituality that you saw in the movie have been creeping into mainstream religions in the United States over the last 30 years.
Craft: About a year ago I was in a room listening to Deepak Chopra talk, and he said that in x number of minutes, every single person in this room will have exchanged molecules [by exhaling and inhaling].

Review of Movie "The Craft"   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-25)
In one sense, of course, it doesn't matter whether the movie is realistic in its treatment of Pagan ritual: most conservative critics wouldn't know magical realism if it bit them on the nose -- they get upset about "Dungeons and Dragons", for pity's sake.
Unlike so many movies where the poor teens are seduced into the evils of magic and escape only by renouncing its foul power for ever, here we see magic itself doing the housecleaning.
There will also be movies that are closer to my ideal of a Wiccan presence in film: good movies that feature characters who just happen to be Wiccan.

Witch's Brew Asks:What did you think of the movie The Craft?
The movie has no actual facts and in my Christian dominated town it made us out to be freaks, that where fl all the time, and do things to people against their free will.
I thought the movie was good in the sense that it was only a movie, but i think that it also showed that magic is nothing to mess around with unless you know what you are doing.
I though the craft was a great movie, but they should have had some sort of disclamer saying that the images displayed were fiction, because I have friends who saw the movie and now think that witchcraft is some sort of bad thing.

Witch's Brew Asks:What did you think of the movie The Craft?
The representation of Witchcraft in the movie was, for the most part, accurate, with the exception of a little movie magic that wasn't welcome, but you can't avoid it...
This movie is just so misleading, and if one knows nothing about Wicca then that person will go on believing that what the movie showed is what the religion is all about.
I found the craft to be pretty enjoyable, yet I have always been a this way since I was very young and though I found movies and stories of witches very soul warming I guess I can't contribute them to my love of the occult.

Witch's Brew Asks:What did you think of the movie The Craft?
The movie offended me and I think that if people are going to be doing movies about something so controversial, then they should have at least gotten their facts straight.
The craft is a movie about teenagers with problems they feel they don't belong anywhere so they look at witch craft as a means of gaining acceptance.
And because of this movie, when I told my mom that I wanted to become a witch, she thought that I was going to go out and sacrifice animals and what not.

 The Craft Movie Discussion
The Craft would easily have to be one of my favourite movies.I know it almost line by line and I have both the video and dvd.I'd like to see more movies made like this one because I think it educates people that yes, there is a good side as well as bad to the craft...
The movie was a good representation of what could happen if one was to let the power of magick become the power of greed.
I saw the movie years ago, so perhaps I'm not the best person to give it a review, but I'm fairly certain that learning your religion from a movie is a lousy idea.

 The Craft: Special Edition
While she, too agreed that the movie was not completely accurate, she had a fun time making it, and I see no reason why others shouldn't have a fun time watching it.
This movie would of averaged about 4.5 to 5 stars had it not been for SOME of the practitioners of Wicca and witchcraft being upset about the portrayal of their beliefs.
The craft is simply fun to watch but the real story here is the crap teens go through in high school and what we would love to do if we got caught in those problems and these girls do exactly what they want to do due to the fact that their witches and all.

Cranky Critic® Movie Reviews: The Craft
As The Craft begins, we meet three outcasts who diddle around with chanting pretend witchcraft when they are not in class at an expensive Catholic school somewhere in Los Angeles, California.
At that point, The Craft changes from a sort of interesting us versus the in-crowd kind of story to a would be horror film without any of the blood and guts.
The Craft is enjoyably goofy until it collapses under the weight of its own misdirection.

 filmcritic.com Movie Review: The Craft
The movie feels twice as long as it really is. And...the big daddy of all mistakes...
The Craft makes the fatal error of trying to be serious instead of campy like it should have been.
Some of the effects are pretty cool, but it's tough to make a big deal out of "magic" on a movie screen when it's clearly just digital manipulation or parlor tricks.

The movie's wild special effects hit plenty of high notes, and the performances -- particularly by beautiful, husky-voiced Robin Tunney in the plum lead role of the school newcomer -- should connect solidly with teens across the board.
But director Andrew Fleming ("Threesome") begins the movie at such a feverish pitch that he finally has nowhere to go but over the top, and the movie degenerates into grim weirdness and outlandish mayhem, leaving behind some of its real strengths.

The sleeper hit THE CRAFT (1996) could've easily been played for camp, but it is instead a story of modern urban witchcraft that is both literate and emotionally powerful.
THE CRAFT is a cool horror film that most fans of the genre will enjoy, and the very reasonable price makes it easy for fans to add this DVD to their collections.
The Craft barely sticks its toes in the waters of horror a time or two without ever jumping in and immersing itself in the darkness, so I would not consider it a horror movie at all.

Near the end of the movie when Nancy slits Sarah's wrists, she tells Sarah to run up to her room.

May 5, 1996 -- "The Craft" is the latest horror film to hit town, and is better than most movies of that genre, but that isn't saying much.
The story is about witchcraft and about how four high school girls get caught up in acts of murder and torture because of it.
It isn't as bad as most horror films, which is to say it rates a C. Click here for links to places to buy this movie in video and/or DVD format, the soundtrack, books, even used videos, games and lots of other stuff.

Once aligned, they're sent packing on one of those road movie odysseys where the two men tussle over the one woman, who, in the end, must make an educated choice.
Reflecting, perhaps, the fallout from Levinson's media satire "Wag the Dog," the movie is framed as an episode of a tabloid TV show called "Criminals at Large," hosted by a raspy-voiced huckster named Darren Head (Bobby Slayton).
The show uses excerpts from a past video interview to piece together the life and times of its two protagonists, who, as the film opens, have been cornered in the thick of a bank robbery.

 The Craft movie review
is a movie about a coven of witches who are still in high school.
All in all, it is a fairly entertaining movie.
The plot may not be fully developed and the characters make some bizarre jumps of logic, like how Nancy, who lives in a trailer, can afford private school (somehow I doubt she is on academic scholarship), but it is worth seeing on the big screen.

Maybe it's because some of us know a secret: If he grew his receding hairline back and his voice were mysteriously ratcheted up a half-octave, you'd have the kind of character actor who'd never get the girl; he'd just threaten her or, more likely, be ignored by her.
Away from the girls, he'd be the fifth member to the right of the hero in neighborhood crime melodramas and ensemble war movies (he, in fact, made his name in "Saving Private Ryan").
When the movie isn't bogging down in extreme clichés and action sequences (out-surfing an avalanche; out-running a chemical bomb being launched, absurdly, via, speedboat), it occasionally finds a happy median between Diesel's basic absurdity and that of modern action movie aesthetics in general.
