UK newspaper publisher Daily Mail and General Trust said today that its advertising markets were proving patchy for its national titles but that revenue from its business and digital operations was enjoying good growth.
Daily Mail said it would report exceptional gains of about £180m in its annual results mainly from selling Aberdeen Journals and Study Group.
The publisher of the Daily Mail and Evening Standard newspapers added that because of changes to its adjusted tax charge, its 2006 adjusted earnings per share increased to 18.7 pence from 17.8 pence.

Daily Mail and General Trust PLC, the publisher of London's Evening Standard newspaper, said Thursday it will report a one-time gain of about 180 million pounds ($339.2 million) this year from asset sales.
The company, which also publishes the Daily Mail and recently launched the free afternoon paper London Lite, will also incur a charge of about 40 million pounds ($75.4 million) related to the cost of reorganizing some parts of the business, Daily Mail said in a statement.
Circulation of the Daily Mail newspaper was unchanged in the six months through August even after the company raised the cover price.
