Plot - The Day After Tomorrow (movie)
After the conference, Jack and Dr. Rapson meet for a cup of tea to discuss Jacks findings, which establishes a relationship between the two that will be needed later.
Shortly after Dr. Rapson arrives back in Scotland from the conference three weather bouys are showing a 13 degree drop in water temperature.
The movie ends with people emerging onto the roofs of skyscrapers to be rescued and Jack (with the library group) picked up by a helicopter.

The Day After Tomorrow - Is Climate Disaster Coming?
With wildly cool computer-generated tornadoes, mega-hurricane storm surge, and blinding blizzards, this movie is sure to fire the imagination of a public that is constantly beseiged with new worries about global warming and impending climate disaster.
Indeed, this is the premise in "The Day After Tomorrow", where a wise old scientist (with a British accent, of course, lending credibility) announces that such a climate shift is indeed happening.
While "The Day After Tomorrow" will raise awareness of the global warming issue, it is unlikely to lead to the public having balanced and informed views on the subject.

The Day After Tomorrow - AGGRESSIVE-VOICE.COM
Roland Emmerich’s “The Day After Tomorrow” is not at all about the day after tomorrow, but instead the day before tomorrow, and finally tomorrow.
And along the way to tomorrow we are treated to several sub-plots of main characters assuring us that even if most of the world’s people succumb to the massive storms creating “climate shifts” in our atmosphere, there will at least be some survivors.
Like Emmerich’s “Independence Day” and the countless disaster movies that came before it, the world is taken by surprise because the people in charge didn’t believe the smart guy and his diagram.

The Day After Tomorrow - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Day After Tomorrow is a 2004 apocalyptic science-fiction film that depicts catastrophic effects of global cooling and boasts high-end special effects, bending the lines between science, reality and science fiction.
The Day After Tomorrow premiered in Mexico City on May 17, 2004 and was released worldwide from May 26 to May 28 except in South Korea and Japan where it was released June 4 and June 5, respectively.
The movie is based on the idea that the Gulf Stream (or North Atlantic drift), an ocean current which circulates warm water from the tropics to the Northern Hemisphere, is disrupted by the melting of the polar ice caps.

The Day After Tomorrow Movie Review
Tomorrow is - if you go in expecting a silly premise, marginal acting and good special effects - practically entertaining.
Tomorrow's disaster du jour is global warming, which, according to Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid), could result in another ice age in the next 50 or 100 years.

After all, he has the backing of paleoclimatologist (anyone with such a title must be credible) Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid) who has been warning government officials about a new ice age for years now.
The silliness of the dialogue is always made bearable by the skills of the acting crew who deliver their ridiculously poor lines with tongues firmly implanted in cheeks, knowing they are but paying adoration to the disaster flicks of yesteryear.
In this day and age it's a pleasant release to be able to watch 9/11-like destruction knowing that upon exiting the Cineplex it will all be over.

That being said, we'll leave tearing apart the science of the movie to those who are more capable and less attractive, and thus simplify things immensely.
Instead, 'The Day After Tomorrow' generates into a wholly predictable and utterly empty narrative about Jack Hall's journey across the glacified (yeah, what are you gonna do about it?) surface of America to save his son [-0.5, 6.0].

Directed and co-written by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day) with his usual mixture of strengths and glaring weaknesses, the effects-laden doomsday epic is frequently exciting, particularly when a very pissed-off Mother Nature unleashes her fury on Los Angeles, a/k/a Sin City.
The Day After Tomorrow is not a movie that requires much from its cast other than looking earnest, reacting to special effects and keeping a straight face while delivering the occasional lame bit of dialogue.
Roland Emmerich's The Day After Tomorrow is transparently dumb (not to mention burdened with some ponderous dialogue and stiff acting).

Rather than hail the size of grapefruit as shown in the movie, Revelation 16:21 foretells that the world will see hail crashing down that will weigh about 30 to 80 kilograms (66-176 lbs.) – which is the weight of a biblical "talent" according to scholars.
Rather than a tidal wave as in the movie, which preserved the basic structure of buildings in New York, prophecy instead foretells an earthquake so great that mountains will be leveled and islands will disappear (Revelation 16:18-20).

The Day After Tomorrow a.k.a umm Sunday, could've only been realeased during the summer months, because I don't think writer-director Roland Emmerich could possibly have any of his movies be released in any other season.
This movie does have a fairly large budget ($125 million) but what I liked about it is they really didn't let the effects take over the whole movie, and they weren't self-serving and didn't have that "look what I can do with CGI" sort of feel to it.
The effects were crucial to the movie, and they were absolutely magnificent, but they really didn't center the whole movie around them.

After decades spent tackling volcanoes, aliens, earthquakes, asteroids and every other disaster imaginable, Hollywood has turned its attention to one of the hottest scientific and political issues of the day: climate change.
No one is pretending the forthcoming film “The Day After Tomorrow” is anything but implausible: In the $125 million movie, global warming triggers a cascade of events that practically flash freeze the planet.
The movie also has mobilized activists, who are seizing on it as an occasion to spark public discussion about a subject they feel is getting short shrift from the public and policy-makers alike.

In a movie that must have environmentalists and tree huggers worldwide grinning from pierced ear to pierced ear, we humans are forced at last to atone for the sin of global warming--a sin that melts the polar caps and brings on another Ice Age (in about the time it takes to play a baseball game).
This movie's strength is its visual onslaught of destruction and disaster on a global scale--from tornadoes ravaging Los Angeles (Why do LA TV reporters feel compelled to cover a twister a stone's throw away on live TV?) to three cataclysmic "blizzard hurricanes" that devour the Northern Hemisphere.
THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW has widely been ridiculed as one of the silliest movies of recent years and was the recipient of utterly awful reviews when it was released.

There is much in The Day After Tomorrow that is interesting and even frightening, but even more is profoundly ridiculous and an insult to even those of mediocre intelligence...
What frustrates me most about these films are their too-neat narratives that insist in packaging plot between an instructional beginning and a resolution at the end - and this primarily because they somehow have to be character-driven and contain liberal doses of schmaltzy personal guff.
I would guess that nine-tenths of those who handed over their green to see this movie were agog during the destruction, and slouched down in their seats with indifference when the shallow and clichéd character scenes interrupted the action.

In terms of being an entertainer, Emmerich's latest installment into the disaster subgenre, 'Day after tomorrow' is unfortunately much closer to the latter rather than the former.
Say what you will, but these short lived bits are perhaps the only reason to sit through Day after tomorrow, because the rest of it is so exhaustively and knowingly the signature work of its director that the movie seems inconsequential.
In 2004, after having already witnessed numerous celluloid destructions in previous years ranging from volcanoes to asteroids and even Emmerich's very own aforementioned work, the entire premise seems based on a familiar pattern left on autopilot.
