Topic: The Delinquents (movie)

The Child Goes to the Movie
Mitchell interviewed juvenile delinquents about their movie attendance, and one described how they did not get enough money from their parents to attend the movies.
To what extent movie audiences in a large city are composed of children can only be approximated, as it seems there are no datea available on the number of half-rate or children’s tickets sold.
There were a few public-school children who reported that they go to the movies “pretty nearly every night and twice on Sunday,” but less than one-half of 1 per cent of the scouts showed a high frequency rate of attendance.

D For Delinquent is a great 50's 'Cellar' or 'Basement' Club cover with the pointy sweater temptress and mildly threatening 'boy'.
It was believed that youths and delinquents found space in cellars that they refurbished into clubhouses and partied into the night with sex and booze and occasionally marijuana.
These are a couple of movie novelizations (After all, the film industry is not immune to fads) and have a combination of movie stills and again, the more stylized figure.

In the days before he found an agent, "some Hollywood sleazeball" had managed to get the rights to the Wayside School stories (he has since won them back, and they are currently in development as a possible animated television series).
For the movie, her story has been more evenly distributed throughout Stanley's adventure, making for a more satisfying subplot.
No matter what anyone tells you, digging holes while working on a major Hollywood movie is no more fun for the crew than it would be for the kids at Camp Green Lake.

THE DELINQUENTS was shot on location in Kansas City in two weeks in the summer of 1955 and edited in Hollywood (at Altman's insistence).
The plot of THE DELINQUENTS goes something like this: Scotty White (played by Hollywood actor Tom Laughlin, who went on to play Billy Jack) is forbidden to see his sweetheart, Janice Wilson.
The narration is annoying, the plot is predictable, and there are several editing mistakes (one of the gang members says the same line twice, in two different shots).

There are some moments of comedy that are a little rough, and these often lie in the laps of the actors rather than the toons.
But once you get past the fact that the movie is really nothing more than a feature length cartoon which isn’t supposed to make a lot of sense, it’s actually quite fun.
And it’s the closest we’re gonna get to the golden age when Mel Blanc did the voices and the cartoons were directed by Chuck Jones, Friz Freleng and Robert McKimson (may they all rest in peace).

Talking of course about Kylie Minogue’s big entrance into film — 1988’s “The Delinquents”, an enjoyable, and reasonably well-written teenage drama only slightly impaired by the fact that it’s lead was as good as an actress as she was a carpenter.
She looks peachy, but Minogue doesn’t prove to be anything more than a former soapstar in the lead role.
Available for the first time on DVD, “The Delinquents” looks quite good on DVD — not too many scratches or discoloration, and the sound — thankfully, because the music plays a starring role — is as good as could probably be.
