Directions within the discworld are not given as north south east and west, but rather as directions relating to the disc itself, eg hubward (towards the centre), rimward (away from the centre) and to a lesser extent, turnwise and widdershins (relation to the direction of the disc's spin).
Originally published as a 'Discworld story': larger format and fully illustrated by Josh Kirby; more recently reissued as a normal paperback with no illustrations.
Discworld MUD Allows you to enter the Discworld and become a wizzard or assassin, or whatever you choose.

The Discworld might have started out in the imagination of its Creator, Terry Pratchett, but over the past 30 or more books, it has taken on a life of its own.
This is not a Discworld novel, but a re-release of a joint effort by Pratchett and Gaiman originally published in 1990.

So begins the first Discworld book: The Color of Magic, the adventures of the Discworld's first tourist, Twoflower, and his possibly not-so-incompetent guide, Rincewind the Wizard.
The Discworld is the creation of British writer Terry Pratchett.
Not because of the subject matter (I don't care if women are in the military, police, fire departments, etc. so long as they meet the same physical requirements as the men.), I just didn't care about any of the characters and I kept getting confused about who was who (lots of people with multiple names).

In 1980 Pratchett was appointed publicity officer for the Central Electricity Generating Board with responsibility for three nuclear power stations, where he was working when the first of the Discworld novels "The Colour of Magic," was published, in 1983.
Pratchett's paperback publisher at the time was New English Library, who had published "The Dark Side of the Sun and Sourcery." "The Light Fantastic" was published in 1986, and Pratchett decided that he had to move to a major publishing house.
These were enjoyable, but not quite the same as a Discworld story (though the normal humour was present in full).

These little foldout Discworld map/guide books are a bit of a hit and miss affair, but the second in the series is an absolute must.
Not only is the Discworld map practical (yes – you can finally work out just where all the various locations on the Discworld are in relation to each other!) but it’s gorgeous to look at.
I've been a Discworld fan for a few years now so i finally bought this map to follow exactly where characters were actually going in the books.

Magic glues the Discworld together and a lot of it ends up in Lancre, principal Kingdom of the Ramtop Mountains.
The mapp may only be two-dimensional, but watch it very carefully and you might see it jostle about a bit.
STEPHEN BRIGGS is none of these, but knows even more about the Discworld than Mr Pratchett which is, when you think about it, very odd.

I became a Discworld fan only in August, but I've read all of the novels, both GURPS Discworld books, the Streets if Ankh-Morpork Mapp, the Discworld Mapp, and The New Discworld Companion.
I've mentioned some of my plans to run a Discworld campaign in the following thread: http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=10319, but I don't want to monopolize space where more general GURPS issues are discussed.
I'm a bit of a Discworld fan myself, and I have GURPS Discworld and Discworld Also, though I've yet to get a chance to play with them.

I suggest reading them in order, especially because in the early books discworld is an entire different age where barbarians fight and magic controls, later on society (especially Ankh-Morpork) changes and becomes more modern.
However Pratchett is slowly moving Discworld into new worlds and with each step it loses a little bit of middle ages and gets more modern times characteristics.
But yeah Discworld changes and Pratchett got rid of all the barbarians in the world who still roamed the plains back in color of magic.

After the surprisingly successful Streets of Ankh-Morpork and Discworld Mapp, this one just doesn't seem to have quite the same excitement.
Perhaps Lancre was not the best place to attempt to map; the result is certainly disappointing, especially when compared to the other two Discworld Mapps.
The main problem is that as Lancre consists almost entirely of mountains, there is nothing to put on the map.
