The Doors (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The film portrays Morrison as the larger-than-life icon of 1960s rock and roll, counterculture, and the drug-using free love hippie lifestyle.
The film's soundtrack contains over two dozen of The Doors' songs; in the film, original recordings of the band are seamlessly combined with convincing vocal performances by Kilmer himself.
The settings for the film, particularly the concert sequences, are depicted somewhat realistically and in mostly chronological order, although the crowd scenes contain many blatant exaggerations, such as portrayals of nudity that did not occur.

 The Doors - Movie Review
Ten years after its initial release, I found The Doors a lot like I remembered: a long, pretentious, and meandering -- yet dutiful -- retelling of Jim Morrison's life (and which ultimately had far more to do with him than the band he fronted).
But it's mainly Jim's self destruction via drugs, alcohol, and scandalous behavior (antics that ultimately forced him to flee to Paris to escape an obscenity conviction) that is the focus of the film (much like the Lenny Bruce biopic Lenny), and that relatively shallow effort is hard to sustain over nearly 2 1/2 hours.
Shot with Stone's characteristic, psychedelic style, the film is a memorable one thanks to Val Kilmer's inspired portrayal of Morrison, not to mention nude from of hundreds of Hollywood actresses -- notably the prudish Meg Ryan and Kathleen Quinlan.

If we can trust Oliver Stone's new biographical film, THE DOORS, life for Jim Morrison was like being trapped for months at a time in the party from hell.
Many of them are on the sound track of THE DOORS, which combines Morrison's original vocals and new vocals by Val Kilmer so seamlessly that there is never, not even for a moment, the sensation that Kilmer is not singing everything we hear.
The last hour of the film, in particular, is a dirge of wretched excess, of drunken would-be orgies and obnoxious behavior, of concerts in which the audiences waited for hours for the spectacle of Morrison stumbling onstage to fake a few songs or, notoriously, to expose himself.
