The Beatles - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Beatles created a sensation in late 1963 in the UK (the phenomenon was dubbed " Beatlemania " by the British press), notable for the hordes of screaming and swooning young women the group inspired.
The Beatles' financial fortunes took a turn for the worse however, when their manager Brian Epstein died in 1967 and the band's affairs began to unravel.
Some say that one of the Beatles' many achievements was to marry the relative sophistication of Goffin and King's songs (which used major-seventh chords, for example) with the straightforwardness of Buddy Holly, Berry and the early rock-and-roll performers.

Beatles badges, dolls, chewing gum and even cans of Beatle breath showed the huge rewards that could be earned with the sale of merchandising goods.
At Christmas 1965 the Beatles released Rubber Soul, an album that was not a collection of would-be hits or favourite cover versions, as the previous releases had been, but a startlingly diverse collection, ranging from the pointed satire of "Nowhere Man" to the intensely reflective "In My Life".
The Beatles revealed that the four musicians were already working in isolated neutrality, although the passage of time has now made this work a critics' favourite.

That the Beatles was the greatest band is a value or opinion.
So, rather than asserting, "The Beatles were the greatest band", we can say, "Most Americans believe that the Beatles were the greatest band," which is a fact verifiable by survey results, or "The Beatles had many songs that made the Billboard Hot 100," which is also fact.

The recent Beatles anthology on the American ABC television network reminded me of Beatlemania days in the '60s in Tehran when I was a teenager.
Little did they know that the early mop-top Beatles hairstyle was nothing compared to more outrageous styles that appeared later among middle-class Iranians exposed to Western culture.
Anyway, years passed by, the Beatles broke up, and by the mid-'70s and the years leading to the revolution, Iranian interest in Western pop culture declined.

Redwalls evoke spirit of early Beatles
At a time when the early Beatles have been co-opted for TV commercials, sanitized as elevator music and robbed of any vitality by constant repetition on classic-rock radio, it's easy to forget their roots as a gutsy, gritty, RandB-fueled bar band that once played for crowds of drunken sailors in Hamburg's red light district.
But during a sold-out show at Metro on Friday night, they perfectly evoked the raunchy, pre-mop-top spirit of the Beatles at their rawest and most soulful, bringing to mind what the Fab Four's music might have sounded like if they'd made their first recordings at Chicago's Chess Studio in 1961.
And Brooklyn's cult heroine Regina Spektor tried hard to merge Fiona Apple and Tori Amos, but she lacked the voice, the chops on piano and the distinctive songwriting to mark her as a solo chanteuse worth listening to.

Certainly, until the Beatles' own account is published in the form of their Anthology, Harry's enthusiastically written tale of the characters and situations involved in the group's story will not be bettered.

Martin, who liked their performance and was charmed by their humor and group chemistry, offered the Beatles a contract, but requested that they abandon Pete Best for studio work, whom he found musically unsuitable to the group chemistry.
Most of the Beatles'; lyrics during this period were inane--the "yeah yeah yeah" of "She Loves You" being perhaps the silliest--but when delivered with the Beatles'; delirious enthusiasm, they worked.
