Tarot Doug Blog - Adventures in Vancouver Tarot Reading
Later, I looked it up and apparently it is supposed to be a symbol of fertility, which makes sense given the card's connections to The Empress card.
About a year ago, a client got the Queen of Pentacles in a reading and I described the card, how this Queen was the sort of person who was comfortable in his or her own space and very giving to others, in a homemade chicken soup scarf-knitting sort of way.
This card reminds me that I should always be looking for new ways to look at the cards.

The Tower Card XVI of the Tarot (c)1997 by Michael Star
I believe that in the ancient occult wisdom, the symbolism of The Tower represents this "Destruction" aspect of the Universe, in contrast to the "Creation" aspect which is probably symbolized by The Empress in a physical sense and by The Magician in a mental sense.
The Tower card is associated with the planet Mars; and in Astrology the planet Mars was the ancient ruler of Scorpio, the Sign of "Sex and Death".
This way of counting the sequence of the Tarot cards with the "wild card" 0 at the beginning of the sequence produces a second set of "secret" numbers which will be "occult" (hidden) to the people who are not "initiated" into this particular piece of hidden knowledge.

 Tarot card meaning The Sun
It is said that if we follow our true nature, as symbolised by The Empress tarot card, that we will arrive in a state of bliss because we are in harmony with our highest self.
In a tarot reader it is always more beneficial for the Sun card to be found in the line of the mind, for this symbolises true contentment and inner bliss which is not dependant on any physical set of circumstances.
When the sun tarot card is found at a physical level then the happiness may well prove fleeting and dependent on people, places or things remaining exactly the same.

The History of the Empress Card
Compared with many of the other cards of the tarot, the Empress has had a rather uneventful five centuries.
This can be traced to woodcarvings misunderstanding and miscopying the strangely-shaped throne on which the Empress sits in the Tarot de Marseille pattern.
Although there is nothing superficially subversive in the image of the Empress, taken in isolation, her inclusion in the quaternity of rulers and her juxtaposition with the Papess suggests the possibility that she is a wordless manifesto for activating the power of the Mother in the governance of the world.

Meaning of the Empress Tarot Card
Of course, the Empress can also be the worst aspects of an attentive Mom; she can smother, not know when to let go, be possessive and jealous of those who would take away her "baby." It is important for the Querent to realize that plants can die from over-watering as easily as neglect.
While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born.
The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business.

New Worlds Article: Victoria Regina Tarot
After finishing the Empress card, I commented half-jokingly to a friend that, since the deck was called "Victoria Regina," Queen Victoria ought to have been depicted as the Empress.
There were also regrets over figures not represented in the deck, notably Victoria's eldest daughter Vicky, the Empress Frederick of Germany.
If Victoria was to be the Queens, then it was only fitting that the rest of the court cards be represented by her contemporaries.
