The value of the Family Name was high and provided you stood to honour the family name, you would have the support of your clann.
The young were generally educated with in the family unit, however some would be 'fostered' to other families to teach them another skill or to obtain an education in another way to bring back to the primary Clann.
It was considered customary for the family to share their skills or songs with the young to keep the knowledge of the family line alive.

It's hard to lose yourself in a cathedral revelation or museum epiphany when your daughter is screaming to have her diaper changed, or your son is telling you for the 20th time that he's hungry and wants to go back to the hotel now.
Actually, my family is a happy example: Our first child was born 13 Augusts ago, and a couple of months later, I was named travel editor of a major metropolitan newspaper.
Others expand the concept of family even further: An exchange student finds a second family in Italy, an American visits the family of his foster child in the Philippines, a miscarriage on the road forges a culture-bridging bond, travelers look for ancestral roots or for vestiges of their own childhoods.

Families were created to make up for what evolution did not provide, namely a way by which men could be induced to support the children they beget and care for the women they impregnate.
Enslaved fls were never allowed to form families at all so that, when emancipation finally came, there was no lasting tradition of family life that could support newly freed people who were cast out into a still-segregated society.
Looking forward makes families look like an outmoded television sketch called, variously, "Leave It to Beaver" or "Ozzie and Harriet." To many Americans who look backward--conservatives, in the main--maintaining the family, albeit one with some changed human dimensions (such as greater freedom for women), is vitally important.

Family reunification, they argue, is an arbitrary, time-bound artifact whose justification is no longer self-evident.
Because family reunification relies on blood ties, argues Peter Salins, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, it fails to "validate the concept of individual ambition" central to American society.
Family reunification is "inappropriate policy," says University of Chicago economist and Nobel laureate Gary Becker, because it obscures the economic incentives for immigrants.

And the ways in which each entity affects and is related to the other entities must be considered as well.
A key way to do this is to offer value-added services that complement advanced planning and wealth management, such as educational services, collection advisory, family security and concierge services.

The 'eee-by-gum' The Family Way score by a 1967 Paul McCartney is a laugh.
The family way is one of my alltime favourite films, great perfomances from john mills, hayley mills, majorie rhodes, hywel bennet, liz frasier, barry foster, diana coupland, wilfred pickles, the theme by mccartney has a melancolic lilt to it,i suspect as it was supervised by george martin the arrangements, strings etc were done by him.
I'd like to add my support to The Family Way and say I always laugh when the Marjorie Rhodes character relates the tale of how she walked into the Gents toilets by mistake, the look on her face as she remembers pure genius.

BookPage Fiction Review: In the Family Way
In the Family Way begins in Greenville with the seminal event in Jeru Lamb's world: the death of his older brother, Mitchell.
It is an event that sends Jeru's otherwise normal mother to embrace Christian Science for solace, convinces his father to quit his steady job at an advertising agency to devote himself with equal zealotry to literary ambitions, and casts a bizarre, tragic pall over three generations of the Lamb family in general.
This act of creating such a memorable and convincing narrator is where In the Family Way succeeds, and it separates Hays from the rush of recent Southern fiction.
