Flower Kings, the - Satan Stole My Teddybear
Flower Kings are arguably one of the most popular "prog" bands of the 90s, and pride themselves on being chockful of cheesy melodies and more retrocrap than you can shake the last Oasis album at.
Roine "Kaipa" Stolt is, of course, the brains behind this thing, Flower Kings having root in one of his solo albums, and his melodic sense really clash with my own, so I can't help but feel that this is just one big cheesefest, boring AORy melodies abound and all.
One of the things that typifies The Flower Kings is the wealth of material they pack into their songs.

With the albums "Space Revolver" 2000 and "The Rainmaker" released in September 2001 The Flower Kings sound shifted to a more accessible level but maintains all the elements that have established this band as one of those most colourful exponents of progressive rock in the world today.
With this comes of course a healthy portion of criticism from the more conservative progfan or prog metal lovers, but Flower Kings still go the way they find most fruitful and rewarding and taylored to stand the test of time, may it be pop or experiment.

Since their 1994 debut, Roine Stolt The Flower King, the Swedish progressive rockers have released a new album almost every year, often even in the form of a double CD with extended playing times and different styles.
Well, little ever changes, and even before the release of Adam and Eve, the eighth studio release from The Flower Kings, the so-called fans were already griping it was "more of the same." Just a year ago many were calling the previous studio album, "Unfold The Future," too experimental for it's heavy jazz fusion influences.
The Flower Kings have developed a superior product, a unique and inspiring sound that is at once majestic and compelling, and they continue to deliver, after 10 years of recording, at the same high level that they always have.

The Flower Kings' fast rise to the top of the progressive rock community was equal to their recording pace.
Strangely, it didn't affect the album's cohesion or interest (it wouldn't be the case for Flower Power) and, although it could have been stripped down to an even stronger 75-minute CD, Stardust We Are made a strong impression and opened the U.S. doors for the Swedish band.
More cohesive as a whole than the previous album Retropolis, Stardust We Are was on the other hand weaker musically speaking, but it remains one of the very good Flower Kings albums, if only for the opening and closing tracks.
