 Episode: Enterprise 083
It soon turns out T'Pols mother is a Syrrannite and has gone to a desert called the Forge, where all serenites come together because they believe it is the path Surak, one of their most important ancestors, followed.
Soon the trail leads to a group of deviant Vulcans, calling themselves the Syrrannites, because DNA on a bomb was found from a woman called T'Pau, one of the Syrrannite leaders.
Archer and T'Pol leave to search for her mother and the Syrrannites, when Phlox and Trip discover the Syrrannites aren't resposnible...

 TNG Episode Snyopses Fourth Season
La Forge's joy at finally meeting Dr. Leah Brahms, the Galaxy class engine designer, whose holodeck image he once fell in love with, turns to ashes when she finally comes aboard the Enterprise.
La Forge is disturbed to hear from former shipmate Susanna Leijten that they are the only two members remaining from an away team sent to Tarchannen III five years ago.
En route to a vacation and seminar on Risa, La Forge is kidnapped by Romulans as part of a complex plot to split the Federation-Klingon alliance.

Star Trek: Enterprise Episode Guide - SECTION31.COM
In comparison with last week's "The Forge", "Awakening" was a slight letdown, but so slight as to be nearly immeasurable.
Now, if this were an isolated incident, I wouldn't bother sullying my review of an otherwise excellent episode with it, but it isn't: T'Pau's fieriness seems very emotional for a Vulcan.
His conversations with Archer were a wonderful touch for the episode, and shed a lot of light on the Vulcan messiah.

This is the first episode written by Prolific Trek novelists Judith and Garield Reeves Stevens.
The Vulcan Forge has a dampening field which extends 100 meters into the air thereabouts.
Berman however choked when he had to consider the royalty issues of paying for an established character week in week out so renamed the character T'Pol.

TrekWeb.com -- ENT Writer Andre Bormanis Answers Tough Questions and Gives a Look Ahead in Tuesday's TrekWeb Chat: Full Transcript Inside
One of the things I hoped that episode would do is stimulate discussion among science-oriented fans of the show about whether or not a class-M environment could be sustained on a rogue planet.
Not to make excuses, but it is a challenge after 600 episodes and ten feature films, to make every episode as ground-breaking as the shows that make it onto most people's top ten lists.
One of the nice things about the letterbox format is that it lets the director shoot an episode in a more "cinematic" style, which is something that our executive producer, Brannon Braga, always encourages.

 Rob's STAR TREK Episode Guide
This episode is a holographic simulation run by Riker during The Pegasus mission aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D. It contains many references to previous Star Trek people and events.
This episode sets up the beginnings of the forming of the United Federation of Planets, whose five charter members are the planets Earth, Vulcan, Andoria, Tellar, and the human colony Alpha Centauri.
Unlike the other "mirror universe" episodes, this episode (and it's conclusion) are entirely contained within the mirror universe.

TrekWeb.com - ENT Can't Bridge "The Forge" to Maintain Previous Fast National Rating, Ep Declines
The Forge was probably one of my favorite Star Trek episodes, on par with the best of any Trek episode.
I'm looking forward to the next episode of Enterprise, but I wonder if there is enough of an audience to support this type of series.
Unless the fee they pay for ENT this season is still too high for their liking.

 EN World - Morrus' D&D / d20 News & Reviews Site - Enterprise 11-19-04
It's generally unusual for Star Trek to have authors who've written Trek books to write episodes for the series itself, which is somewhat of a shame, since the book writers generally have a pretty good grasp of the background material.
This episode was exactly the opposite because it took established facts about the Vulcans and worked with them, expanded them without greatly contradicting them.
The Augments borrow from Star Trek II, this episode is taking from Star Trek III - are whales next?

 Yesterday`s Enterprise
How would you rate the Enterprise episode 'Affliction'?
This was, at least to me, the best damned episode of any Trek I have ever seen, so it gets an eleven.
Just as the U.S.S. Enterprise -D's engine core seems on the verge of exploding, Data announces that the rift has closed, and, unaware of the preceding events, the U.S.S. Enterprise returns to its original time line, heading for a cultural exchange program with a Klingon delegation.

 Star Trek News
The 24th and 25th episodes of the season are "Two Days and Two Nights," involving a visit to the pleasure planet Risa; and "Desert Crossing," an episode for which little is known other than the fact that it features guest appearances by three U.S. Navy "Sailors of the Year" from the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Enterprise..
The episode was written by Maria and Andre Jacquemetton based on a story by Rick Berman and Brannon Braga and the guest cast features Jeffrey Combs as Krem, Ethan Phillips as Ulis and Clint Howard as Muk.
This is consistent with the shooting schedules and casting calls for recent episodes from "Vox Solis" to "Two Days and Two Nights" and "Desert Crossing." The staff hiatus will commence from mid-May through mid-summer, when the writers return to begin season two.

 Terok Nor :: Style 2.0
In the meantime, La Forge has been returned to the U.S.S. Enterprise in exchange for Picard; the Duras sisters watch with great interest as La Forge moves about the ship.
Data and La Forge later return to the starship's laboratory and find traces of a volatile explosive which Soran has secretly concealed in the lab.
Although La Forge questions the wisdom of the installation as a potentially painful step in the growth of his friend, Data ignores him.

TrekPulse BBS -> The Forge Poll and Discussion
Now with this episode, I think these story elements I mentioned are starting to work through, and may satisfy the fans that don't like the Enterprise Vulcans.
Also, the commentary on current events was beautifully subtle! I mean, the terrorist attack wasn't subtle, but the episode didn't raise the "usual questions" which we've asked and keep asking ourselves over the last couple years.
I think the Vulcan Forge was amazingly well shot.

Ex Astris Scientia - Star Trek Enterprise (ENT) Season 4
Their stay in the Forge slows down the second half of the episode, and while they are not achieving any visible progress the more interesting events take place on Enterprise and on Vulcan.
The episode was littered with references to Trek history, plus several new terms like "Augments" or "Borderland", and it might have been wiser to limit the scope to just Earth's problem with the remnants of the Eugenics Wars.
We are also looking at the worst time travel episode ever, one where the sudden temporal dislocation is essentially just an excuse to let the brave crew fight against evil aliens and Nazis and then magically return to their own century.

It's generally unusual for Star Trek to have authors who've written Trek books to write episodes for the series itself, which is somewhat of a shame, since the book writers generally have a pretty good grasp of the background material.
First, Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens have patched up a lot of holes and inconsistancies wrt the Vulcans with just this one episode.

It is also mentioned in the Enterprise episode "The Forge"; during a journey across desert terrain, T'Pol says her inner eyelid protects her eyes in lieu of wearing sunglasses.
The DVD release of season 2 of Star Trek: Enterprise reveals (in an outtakes feature) that a scene showing T'Pol slightly intoxicated after drinking several glasses of wine was planned for the episode "Carbon Creek"; this scene was ultimately refilmed with the characters, or at least T'Pol, sober.
T'Pol of Enterprise underwent the procedure at the P'Jem sanctuary c.2136 following a mission for Vulcan Intelligence in which she was forced to shoot and kill a fleeing prisoner.

In the episode "Timeless", La Forge was shown as being the captain of the ship USS Challenger in the year 2390, doing his best to stop Harry Kim and Chakotay from altering the timeline, but they were successful and that reality was erased.
In 2372 he was transferred to the new Sovereign class Enterprise (NCC-1701-E) after the previous Enterprise was destroyed in Generations.
In a different future timeline ("All Good Things", TNG), La Forge had by 2395 married Leah Brahms and had three children with her (Alandra, Brett, and Sydney).
