 Welcome to Fox Run Vineyards!
Under the dynamic, forward-looking ownership of Scott Osborn, Fox Run is poised to become one of the handful of truly great producers in the Finger Lakes.
Native grape varieties put the Finger Lakes on the map a century and half ago, and French-American hybrids, bred for cold resistance, still have an important niche in the region.
The first grapes were planted in 1984 and the Civil War era dairy barn was converted to a modern wine-making facility in 1993.

Grapes are plainly exposed as a foul, sour-tasting fruit which dirties both body and soul, and this is a strict tenet of our dietary code." Alabama Aesopians are threatening to take their children out of school if the bill becomes law.

  Jefferson's Monticello: The Vineyards
Many native grapes were more effectively grown, yet the poor quality of the resultant wine impeded progress in the development of an established industry.
The history of grape culture at Monticello suggests Jefferson's unrelenting oscillation between a desire to grow the difficult yet rewarding vinifera, and the possibilities of well-adapted New World alternatives -- the fox grape, Vitis labrusca, and the Scuppernong variety of the southern muscadine, Vitis rotundifolia.
The Southwest Vineyard was replanted in 1993 entirely with the Sangiovese grape, a variety documented by Jefferson in 1807 and the principal ingredient of Chianti.

The Fox and the Crow were first introduced in Frank Tashlin's "The Fox and the Grapes" in 1941.
Not only was this the Fox and Crow's screen debut, but it featured excellent animation, beautiful backgrounds, and well-paced gags of the Fox trying to capture the grapes, which the Crow offered to have thrown down in exchange for his rather huge picnic lunch.
The Fox and Crow comics would still continue to uphold their share of popularity until 1968 when the duo was "pushed aside" by "Stanley's Monster" who had a short run until 1969.

Ranking No. 21 on the American Film Institute's list of the 100 greatest American films, this 1940 classic is a bit dated in its noble sentimentality, but it remains a luminous example of Hollywood classicism from the peerless director of mythic Americana, John Ford.
"The Grapes of Wrath" is, in many ways, still the greatest American film in the sense that the film is about America, at a certain time and captures the feeling of The Great Depression better than most any other movie.
"The Grapes of Wrath" has astonishingly not dated over the years; it's still as fresh and entertaining as I imagine it was upon its release.
