  Busfilm: Film
Film is a remarkably flexible medium that can tell any story – from the lowly assembly line worker in Modern Times to the rich and powerful Charles Foster Kane.
Ironically, while much of the film/narrative writing shows how film perpetuates oppression (e.g., by suggesting the inferiority of women or racial minorities, or understating the horrors of prisons or the death penalty), my article shows how film overstates the evil of the supposed oppressor – that is, the large corporation.
On the evidence of this film, it seems the answer is that the new economics of filmmaking might affect part, but not all, of the message.

A large portion of the principal filming of the film, especially the portions where Kimble escapes and is on the run was set in rural Illinois but was actually filmed in Jackson County, North Carolina in the Great Smoky Mountains.

If this was only a chase film, it would not be have as interesting as it is. Those sequences are the film's bread and butter and are certainly entertaining and exciting, but we need to get to know the characters and their motivations in order to care about the outcome.
As the film goes on, it relies more on the suspense of placing these two adversaries as close as possible without actually being together, than outlandish stunts, which draws you even deeper into the conflict.
The first time I saw this film Ford's performance left me a little flat, but on second viewing, it's clear his subtle, unrelenting persona is the heart of the picture.

Replacing their original release of "The Fugitive" from 1997, Warner Home Video is now presenting a Special Edition of Andrew Davis’ gripping action-thriller with a brand new transfer of the film and some exciting bonus materials.
Given the dynamic nature of the film and the many explosive moments in the movie, a wide dynamic range is essential for a proper presentation of this movie.
Since the film was done before the era when all effects were achieved digitally, it is especially exciting to see how the filmmakers staged a real train crash that is so perfectly choreographed and executed.

Popularly known as the longest chase sequence in television history, The Fugitive ran through 118 episodes before a climactic two-part episode brought this highly regarded series to a close--with all the fundamental story strands concluded.
Premiering on ABC on Tuesday 17 September 1963, The Fugitive went on to present some of the most fascinating human condition dramas of that decade, all told in a tight, self-contained semi-documentary style.
For its fourth and final season the program was produced in color, having enjoyed three years of suitably film noir-like fl and white photography, ending on a high note that drew the highest TV audience rating (72 percent) up to that time.

The film version, which was limited to a mere two hours, invested a surprising amount of time to developing Kimble as a character, showing his life before the murder and making his fate an obvious tragedy.
The archetypal "fugitive" story hinges on an exploration of duality — the struggle between the real and unreal, honesty and deception, isolation and community, law and criminality.
But this version of The Fugitive is more interested in going through the motions of its premise than in exploring the depths of its characters or any possible meanings of their experiences.

SCREEN IT! ARTISTIC REVIEW: THE ART OF WAR
As a result, not only will the film never be confused with the likes of "Three Days of the Condor" and other such conspiracy films, but also its unnecessarily restrained engine then starts to shimmy, shake and eventually smoke as plot points and other story elements pile up with nowhere to go.
Of course, the film's target audience isn't there for anything to do with a sophisticated story, and whether they consciously or subconsciously realize that everything else is just filler, the women want to stare at the star's chiseled features while the men want to see him inflict some damage on the bad guys.
While the film is decent, if stuck in second gear, during its first half, and has the necessary ingredients, including a good cast, to work as a top-notch political thriller, action/adventure hybrid, it simply comes off as a mediocre experience.

Vintage Movie Posters Lobby Cards Hollywood Memorabilia @ Film Posters @ Film Posters - Vintage Movie Posters and More
From the birth of cinema, movie posters were loaned or “rented” to movie theaters strictly to be displayed to promote a film, then returned to the film exchange or sent to the next theater on the distribution circuit.
For many landmark films of the era (e.g., “The Grapes of Wrath”, “Stagecoach”, “The Wizard of Oz”, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, “Fury”, “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes”, “Flash Gordon”) it is believed that less than a dozen examples have survived of any particular poster.
For other major releases, the studios often produced several different styles of one-sheet for the same film, one to showcase the action-packed elements of the movie and the other to exploit the romance angle, in hopes of luring a broad cross-section of patrons into the movie theater.

Andreas Katsulas Biography :: Hollywood.com   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
As a member of Peter Brook's famed International Company, Andreas Katsulas spent 15 years based in Paris and building a reputation in Europe, but it took "The Fugitive," the 1993 film in which he played the one-armed man, Sykes, to build a Hollywood reputation overnight.
A veteran of the stage in Europe as well as at such prestigious U.S. theatres as the Kennedy Center, Yale Rep, and the Loretto Hilton Rep of St. Louis, Katsulas began to act more regularly in films in the late 70s, appearing in "Serie noire" in France, and "Milo, Milo" in Germany.
Then came "The Fugitive." Sykes truly becomes a character only half-way through the film, but Katsulas' unrepentant, angry, gruff performance made him a worthy antagonist (before the true antagonist is revealed).

Based on the hit 60s TV show starring David Janssen, this 1993 update has Harrison Ford taking over the role of Dr. Richard Kimble, a prison escapee wrongly convicted of the murder of his wife, now intent on finding the mysterious one-armed man who is the real culprit.
The film itself is a sturdy, fairly entertaining thriller with two very solid performances from its stars.
Harrison Ford in particular brings a good deal of sympathetic force to his character, but while the first half of the movie rattles along at a steady pace and retains your attention, the finale is a little underwhelming as the story becomes rather convoluted and drawn out.

A box-office smash when released in 1993, this spectacular update of the popular 1960s TV series stars Harrison Ford as a surgeon wrongly accused of the murder of his wife.
The Fugitive, director Andrew Davis' (Under Siege) feature film adaptation of the classic 1960s television series, was one of 1993's biggest hits, thanks to the talents of Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones, who earned a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard.
Based on the popular David Janssen TV series, the film faithfully follows the same premise; a doctor is convicted of his wife's death, but escapes before his execution, and tracks down the 'one-armed man' responsible for the murder, as a driven law officer attempts to recapture him.
