Mobile Game Developer - Sony Ericsson reveals Java platform strategy, making developers' lives easier   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
New games and Java-enabled handsets are released across the globe on a daily basis (there will be a total of about 2 billion mobile phone users globally within the next year or so and according to Ovum there are 450 million Java-enabled handsets today).
But however great these market opportunities seem, mobile game developers are faced with one major challenge: how to get their games to work on hundreds of different devices, for different mobile operators and different languages.
Most developers start by programming their game for one or two key phones on the market, based on either volume considerations or the supported key-technology features.

The Game of Their Lives Movie Page
Due to the importance of the new "The Game of Their Lives" movie to the Baudo family, I have decided to create a page dedicated to it.
From Gerrardbutler.net, "William Ross is the new composer onboard The Game of Their Lives, David Anspaugh's film that was originally to have been scored by the late Jerry Goldsmith.
Production of The Game of Their Lives has been in limbo for quite some time, the fact that a new composer has been hired to score the film surely indicates that post-production is indeed progressing." Thanks to Tom Stremlau for forwarding this information.

Game Mechanics: Lives/Healing: Leviathan, Adventures in the World Sea   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
Each character begins play with 1d4+2 “lives.” These lives represent your chances to cheat death and recover from wounds that would otherwise be fatal.
The player never knows how many “lives” they have to begin with, the DM keeps track of that, but should keep track of how many they have “lost.” You can, and probably will, die, but this mechanic allows for a more cinematic campaign in which the PCs are willing to risk a little more.

The game is unusual in its requirement that the driver/player shift the gears (there are no less than six gears in the drag racing part of the game) and in the use of two unique graphic elements: the Dynamic Trailing window and the MB Helicam.

 Value
So, for instance, in economic theory value is often defined as "willingness to pay," despite the fact that few people actually assent to such a definition, or even exhibit such an understanding of value in their lives.
Game theorists often define value in terms of desire, again contrary to ordinary value practice.
A revisionist sense of value will try to take value practice as a starting point and revise the conception where this is rationally defensible to do.

Also, while the game's in-game cinemas are nice, there's no real "acting" going on; the characters just stand there as the dialogue appears at the top of the screen.

As anyone who's seen Leonardo DiCaprio flail around in The Basketball Diaries knows, laughable game action is the kiss of death for a sports movie, and I'm happy to say GOTL's soccer scenes are spot-on, even more realistic than those in 1981's Victory (which merely had Pelé and Argentinian legend Ossie Ardiles in the cast).
Likewise, GOTL captures the period perfectly, reproducing the 1950s-era game down to the smallest details, from the heavy cotton uniforms to the lace-up soccer balls to the maddeningly uncomfortable cleats the players wore.
