It can't be because of a shortage of geese.
Most good cooks and duck or goose hunters across a spectrum of bird eating cultures have also used the age old method of pricking the skin of the bird so the fat is released during the cooking process.
Place the reserved goose parts and chicken wings on top of the vegetables and roast in a pre-heated 400º oven until the goose part and chicken wings are well browned.

Goose Hugs   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-10)
Goose steps forward and extends neck, sliding its head from the person's wrist to shoulder or neck.
I think that the goose hug must be a somewhat common behavior—that is, not a quirk with just a goose or two.
Although goose hugs occur from the front, perhaps there is also a "subduing" or "conquering" message in these hugs (as in tailgating).

Whereas the cardinal rule in duck hunting is to never call at a duck when it's facing the hunters, Matthew and Pigron continued to talk with the geese until shots were fired or it became evident the birds weren't going to work.
The second tactic is to kick the geese out of the field when you're ready to hunt.
Because geese are root-eaters and not grain-eaters, the pair have switched from planting grain wheat to a variety of grazing wheat, he said.

The goose, whose population is exploding nationwide, is a formidable opponent in the turf wars being waged in office parks, housing developments, municipal parks and private lawns across the nation.
The geese in question are resident geese, not the kind that fly overhead in picturesque V formations in the spring and fall.
An adult Canada goose weighs from 10 to 17 pounds, eats up to 4 pounds of grass a day and returns about 11/2 pounds of that in unappetizing cigar-shaped form that fouls water and can make parks, lawns and ball fields unusable to humans.

Will Hay's Ealing film, The Goose Steps Out, used a war theme broadly.
Once again a plot device of mistaken identity is used, this time when an arrested German spy turns out to be Hay's doppelganger, with British intelligence taking advantage.
Hay's biographers, Ray Seaton and Roy Martin, are dismissive of the film, which they feel is crude, jingoistic and laboured, best excused as Hay's contribution to the war effort.
