In desperation the appeal was broadcast to the general public in an attempt to discover her identity.
I can't remember how much made it onto the album from these sessions, but it was such a pleasure to just sit back and listen to the band create something from nothing and keep it going and developing purely by using that special gift they had of "inter-band telepathy".

The Great Escape - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Great Escape written by James Clavell and W.R. Burnett, and directed by John Sturges is a famous 1963 World War II film, based on a true story about Allied POWs with a record for escaping from POW camps.
This includes all the real-life details of the plans, tunnels, successes and tragic outcome of the "great escape." Paul Brickhill, an inmate of the original camp, wrote an account of the escape under the same name, upon which the film was based.
The Great Escape is also the name of a 1995 album by British band Blur.

It wasn't until the second album Modern Life is Rubbish that the iconic Blur sound began to immerge, with the band taking the influence of 60's acts like The Kinks and The Beatles and applying it to the indie-ethos of 80's bands like The Smiths, Felt and The Wedding Present.
Because of this, the album can be enjoyed as both a conceptual piece (with Blur looking at certain themes synonymous with the rat race and the British way of life), or as a collection of fine pop songs (the singles, particularly The Universal, still sound great).
Still, it's a great pop song, regardless of it's supposed hidden-content, and is a track that works well within the context of the record and with the themes of consumerist abandon and technocratic escape (...it's also worth remembering for that great video featuring the actor, Jean Marc Barr).

The two new albums would be recorded as part of a 75th birthday celebration for Elmer during which he would also conduct the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in a concert of selections from many of his film scores.
Since even the original orchestrations for The Great Escape had long since perished, any music we recorded from this score was going to need to be reconstructed and reorchestrated, based on Elmer’s original sketches, which were all he had retained.
And as wonderful as his soundtrack album recording was, and as triumphant as it was to hear the RSNO invest the music with new life and have it captured with contemporary recording technology, this third CD is most definitely the charm.

All previous LP and CD incarnations had been of a studio re-recording with an orchestra half the size as the one heard here, and it's a revelation to hear it now, in it's entirety, as it was meant to be heard.
Sound quality on the album is fantastic, as is evident right from the start, when Bernstein's classic march kicks things off in the "Main Title." The score is surprisingly varied when listened to as a whole -- it's not just a bunch of variations on the march.
High anxiety figures prominently in cues leading up to the actual escape, as in "20 Feet Short" and "Foul Up." Finally, the last third of the album concentrates on the great escape itself, with Steve McQueen at the vanguard of the action.

With "The Great Escape", Blur deliver their most cohesive and resonant vision, both musically and lyrically.
"The Great Escape" released at the height of the Blur vs. Oasis showdown in the fall of 1995 (coinciding with the release of "Morning Glory"), doesn't expand much on the sonic experimentation of it's brilliant predecessor "Parklife." Instead, Blur seem to have put more focus on craft, resulting in an album of "songs".
The lyric is simpler than anything else on the album, and the characters seems even more desolate because their isolation is communal.

But he argued that it was still great art, stating: "Rock music is popular and the easiest way to define popularity is that it is something that is good."
